Katherine Ann Marriott (“Lola”), born January 13, 1952, in Oakland, California, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 73. Kathie bravely concluded her 14-year battle with cancer with her family and friends by her side. She never once referred to her cancer as an illness - only as her journey. True to who she was, she faced every step on her own terms, beating to her own drum with courage, humor, and unmistakable determination.
Lola, as she was known by her grandchildren, family, and friends, was a 40-year resident of Park City, Utah. She had a lifelong love of mahjong, golf, and real estate—interests that reflected her sharp mind, competitive spirit, and passion for building connections and creating opportunities for others.
Kathie was a woman of deep love and constant generosity. Even while navigating her own challenges, she remained steadfast in giving back, always showing up for others with care, humor, and heart. Her strength was quiet but undeniable, and her spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
She was a devoted and loving Lola who adored her four grandsons and found her greatest joy in time spent with them. Even in her sickest days, you could find her zip-lining with the boys, playing golf, and traveling to attend every sporting and school event.
Kathie is survived by her partner, Thomas Romano; her son, John Rex, his wife, Alycia, and their sons, Caiden and Cooper; and her daughter, Leslie Poling, her husband, Aaron, and their sons, Cole and Cristian.
Kathie will be remembered for her fierce independence, warmth, generosity, and the way she lived life unapologetically and fully. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and kindness that will continue to be felt by all who knew her.
