Leo Edward Miller

1938 ~ 2024

Our beloved father and grandfather has been released to the arms of his devoted wife, family, friends and heavenly father. Leo passed away peacefully due to natural causes on March 1, 2024 in his Murray, Utah home with his loving family at his side.

His last year of life was spent with his family caring for him around the clock. They enjoyed western movies, ice cream in bed, playing cards and dice, homemade dinners and laughter for days. The closeness and love felt in the Miller family over the last year has been an incredible blessing.

Leo was born at his grandparent’s home on January 1, 1938 to Eva Bangerter Miller and Leo Layton Miller. He grew up at the family farm on Pages Lane in Bountiful, Utah with his sister Venna where he learned hard work and endurance that would take him through his life. These skills prepared him to raise and provide for his family and he did that so well.

He married his best friend and love of his life Pat in Elko, NV on May 11, 1956. They had 4 children; Gene Miller, LeAnn Kalfaolu, Jeff (Renee) Miller and Karen (Brent) Orton. He was also the best grandpa to fourteen grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren (with 1 on the way) and 1 great great grandchild.

Leo led and taught his children to camp, hunt and fish with appreciation for the outdoors. The family he had with Pat was most important and the time they spent together a priority to create lifelong memories. They took trips in the camper to Disneyland, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, Canada and had many weekend adventures in the mountains of Utah. Leo had a cabin near Coalville, Utah where he spent much of his time with his wife, children and grandkids riding 4 wheelers, snowmobiling, fishing, playing games, having family dinners and sleepovers. His favorite fishing spots were Mirror Lake and Strawberry.

Leo was a skilled salesman and handy man that could fix or build anything. He and his wife Pat worked as a team to grow their successful rental business as well. They enjoyed refurbishing their properties and engaging with their renters together.

He is survived by his 4 children and many grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy (Pat) Ann Rose Miller and sister and brother in law Venna and Elwood Carlson

A viewing and celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Monday March 11, 2024 from 12:30pm to 2:30pm at Larkin Mortuary in Salt Lake City at 260 E. South Temple. There will be a graveside service immediately after at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

Special thanks to the CNS Hospice and Brightstar staff for the care they provided. He enjoyed his time with each of you and expressed that often.

My sisters and I were remembering Eddie and my father, Dean Kimber along with my sister, Connie and Nanette driving our old Chevy up to Buckland flats in Bountiful. There was a flat tire on the car and we had a hike down the mountain side above Pages Lane. My dad had Connie on his Shoulders. We ran into a rattlesnake, which had just swallowed a squirrel. There were many sweet times we had as cousins.
Best wishes and condolences.
