The lovely Linda Laker Pearson made her debut into the world on June 29, 1947 to her parents Dorothy and Bryan Laker. She was born completely darling.

Throughout her life she exuded love, sunshine and warmth. As her family, we were always greeted with open arms and a big smile on her radiant face. She would say sweet things such as, “Our family has so much love that we could tell each other what we love about the other all through the night and still have more to say when the rooster crows in the morning”.

She embodied all that is beautiful both inside and out! As a little girl, her aunt loved to have her as a model for several articles published in the Deseret News. It was her heart where the true beauty lived, however. She had a gentle soul and always held a deep respect for people. One of her gifts was the ability to understand the needs of children and help them feel seen. After graduating from the University of Utah with a Bachelors in Education, she was able to use this talent as an amazing first grade teacher!

Linda met the love of her life, George, on a special day in January. They were both studying in the library at West High School when … Voila! … it was the beginning of what would lead to a 55 year marriage! Yay!

As Linda’s children, we always knew we were loved. We were the proud recipients of her remarkable creativity. She had a gift of turning plain and ordinary things into special and elaborate masterpieces. When we were little, we always looked so cute because she would sew these completely darling outfits. As part of her creativity, she could turn a boring envelope to mail into a piece of art with her decorative handwriting. And we can’t forget about the Christmas decorations! Wow wow and wow! This woman could decorate!

Linda used her gifts to serve God. She loved the Lord with her whole heart and we knew the Lord loved her. She held many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From Primary to Relief Society, each organization enjoyed the “Linda Touch” that made gatherings and times spent together entertaining and special.

Linda loved to garden. She gently cared for the flowers and combined them in such a way that was so beautiful. You just had to stare and soak it all in! In her last days she would say, “I miss the garden”.

Gama Yinda loved her grandchildren. I mean … each one is so sweet it would be impossible not to! She loved reading to them, talking with them, playing with them, making them Mac and Cheese with hot dogs, attending Science Fairs and talks in Primary or Sacrament Meeting …. it could simply be getting to sit by them and she was in heaven.

How do you say goodbye to a person who holds such a big part of your heart? We all love you, Mom. God knew we needed you. Your influence and example will live on in those who knew and loved you. You were as darling and as good as people come and we are so grateful God let us be a part of your life.

Awhile before she passed she said of her family: “Friends Forever, Friends Before We Came, Friends Now, Friends Forever”

Sadly, she passed away on March 11th, 2025. Linda is survived by her husband, George, who cared for her so tenderly both throughout their marriage and in the time leading up to her passing, her son Matthew (Angie) Pearson, daughter Emily Pearson, grandchildren (Jeff, Eliza, and David Pearson), sister Sue (Sonny) Adams and grand dog Rocco.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Bryan and Dorothy Laker) and youngest son, Christopher Paul Pearson. If there was one silver lining about losing Paul so young, it’s that he was there to greet and welcome his mom to the other side.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 20th at Larkin Mortuary (260 E. South Temple) from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A private family graveside will be held on a warm Spring day!

Guestbook/Condolences

We all send our condolences, Linda was such a joy in our families lives when our mother Maurine Noall Hegsted passed away in 2015. Most of us children lived out of state and she arranged rides from the Airport, meals, and an incredible funereal service. We filled the Cultural Hall and our family felt loved and cared for.
We send love and comfort to your family and you are in our prayers.

I always thought of Linda as pretty, approachable and warm hearted. I find myself quite sad to learn of her passing.
George, Leslie and I send our condolences to you and all of your family. May peace follow you as you grieve so big an upheaval.

George and family,

We were so sorry to hear of Linda's passing. She is one of the kindest people we have ever known and we are grateful for the privilege of having her as our aunt. Scott has fond memories of George and Linda going all the way back to his youngest years in Beaverton and on up through his college years (pizza and a movie at the house) and beyond. We will always remember her beautiful smile and loving spirit. We know she is in an amazing heavenly home (with a fantastic garden) and will be watching over her family here.

Much love, Scott and MIchelle

It is with great sadness we heard of Linda's passing. From so many miles away We unite with you all to grieve for Linda. Having worked with George for some years I always felt a deep spirituality which was brought to perfection when he mentioned Linda. Many a time when sadness filled my life both of them would offer prayers for me.
Linda will be remembered at prayer meetings here in Ireland.
May the Good Lord comfort you.

George and Family,

Our deepest sympathies go out to you at this difficult time. I have many fond memories of Linda from trips to Utah in my childhood and also during my college years and Christmas gatherings over the years. My memories of Linda have been and will always be that of a truly caring, kind-hearted person. I always walked away from every interaction with both Linda and George, feeling greater admiration for you both and feeling better about myself. Linda always made certain that everyone felt seen with her kind attention and concern. She always showed personal interest in me and what was going on in my life every time we visited. It wasn't difficult to see that Linda was and is someone who personified what it means to be a true Christian...and continues to be. The God I have come to know and I Love through much adversity leads me to know that Linda has earned her place of greatness in the eschelons of Eternity and will continue to watch over her family here on Earth and embrace them when their journey is through. Please know that our love, our hearts and prayers are with you.
