Linda Parker Young

1943 ~ 2022

Linda Parker Young, of Holladay, Utah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2022.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 14, 1943, to Don and Donna Parker. Linda was the closest thing to perfection to ever humanly exist. She gave endlessly to her family, loved without limits, was kind to animals and was always patient with those who challenged her. Her family will feel an undeniable void without her daily presence. She will be deeply missed.
Linda accomplished her bachelor’s degree in education from Brigham Young University. She then worked for many years as a business and keyboarding teacher for junior high schools in the Granite School District. She later finished her Master’s degree in education at the University of Utah and completed her career at the Granite School District Administrative offices.
Linda married Boyd Young in 1967. They had three daughters: Mikelle Young (Adrien); Taylor (Jeremy) Hadfield and Emily (Ferin) Freimann. Linda also enjoyed close relationships as a stepmom to Boyd’s first five daughters: Heidi (Carl) Harvey; Shelly (Kelly) Brewer; Lynne (Thom) Starley; Joanie (Joe) Daily and Erin (Mark) Alexander. Together, Boyd and Linda had 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
The happiest times in Linda’s life were spent with her children and grandchildren. Linda was an active grandparent, always teaching her grandchildren in the kitchen and garden. She loved being a grandparent. Linda was a talented gardener and landscaper. She knew the names and needs of all plants. She took pride in having a beautifully manicured yard to enjoy summer evenings with her family. Her family will
take great solace in her garden. It’s a lovely reminder of her time on earth.
Linda is survived by brother Phillip Parker, cousin Marsha Larson, stepdaughters Shelly and Erin, daughters Mikelle, Taylor and Emily. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Parker, stepdaughters Heidi, Lynne and Joanie.
Our family extends heartfelt appreciation to the memory-care team at Spring Gardens in Holladay and Inspiration Hospice. You treated Linda with kindness, dignity, respect and compassion during such a difficult time. We can’t thank you enough.
There will be a viewing held at the Holladay 18th Ward, 2625 E Milo Way in Holladay on Friday, December 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and another on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, at 11:00 AM at the Holladay 18th Ward.

For the brief conversations I've shared with her she was a very thoughtful and lovely person to be around. I heavily regret not being able to get to know her more. May she rest in peace.
