Linda Anthon Capson was born on July 11, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Albert Niels and Elizabeth Watson Anthon. She lost her mother and father early in life and was lovingly raised, along with her brothers, by devoted aunts and grandparents.
She was part of the Sixth/Seventh Ward, of which President Thomas S. Monson often spoke. Linda graduated from West High School in 1958. She married Gilbert Sims Capson on October 8, 1970, and became mother to his six daughters. Together they welcomed two children: Linda Rae, and James Gilbert, who died in infancy. In 1983, Linda and Gilbert built and operated Termite, Insect & Rodent Control.
Linda loved cooking and won a national French’s cooking contest with her original recipe for Honey Pork Oriental. She had a beautiful singing voice and performed as Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! as well as in many solo opportunities. She loved Scrabble, wrote poetry and roadshows, built parade floats, hosted wonderful parties, and cherished her grandchildren, with whom she spent countless hours doing crafts.
In later years, as her declining eyesight made driving impossible, members of the community graciously assisted her with transportation, for which the family is deeply grateful.
Linda passed away on December 8, 2025, following a fall that caused a brain injury. Her Christmas decorations were already up, and she had planned to write her holiday cards that very afternoon.
She is survived by her brother, Richard Anthon; her daughters Susan (Kent) Southworth, Debbie Capson, Melissa (Brad) Thompson, Nancy (Joseph) Zentner, Dorothy (Kreg) Calder, and Barbara (Lynn) Draper; 23 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Robert “Bob” Anthon; her husband; their children, Linda Rae and James Gilbert; her grandson, Daniel A. Egbert; and her great-grandson, Avry Watts.

We are sorry for your loss, hope that you will be comforted at this time.
I am so very sorry for the loss of your mom. She was a wonderful lady and always made me feel welcome. She was extremely talented and will always be Aunt Eller to me! Sending peace and hugs to you all!
