Linda Rae Laughlin Klumker, born on May 26, 1941, in Salt Lake City, UT, passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 84 at Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, UT.
Linda's education began at Douglas Elementary School, continued through Roosevelt Junior High, and concluded with her graduation from Olympus High School, all within the state of Utah. While in high school, she was active in drama, singing in quartets, and served as the piano and organ accompanist for school assemblies. She attended the University of Utah, where she majored in Elementary Education and was a member of Angel Flight, an elite marching and service-oriented sorority group. At the time of her graduation, she was 7 months pregnant with her oldest son, Jeffrey Andrew Klumker.
Linda was passionate about music, especially playing the piano, and she served as a piano teacher for over 40 years. She was a competitive swimmer with a natural talent in the backstroke, winning many medals and trophies. She pursued performance acting throughout high school and college, ending her career as a paid professional with a performance company in Park City, Utah. She was an artist, enjoying tole painting and creative stick figure character drawings. She served as a choir director for numerous choirs, ranging from ward choirs and an Institute young adult traveling choir, to other community and children’s choirs. She was talented and passionate with handiwork, including crochet, knitting, and needlework, as well as sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, baking, creating a beautiful home, and was a world traveler, good listener, and friend. She had an endless passion for teaching and learning!
She was thoughtful and generous to her family members, neighbors, strangers, and dear friends. Linda enjoyed serving with her husband Gary within the homeless community in downtown SLC. She willingly knitted countless numbers of warm caps and scarves. She sewed quilts and pillows along with providing basic hygiene kits for those in need for years. Together, they worked in support for and provided handcrafted items, including girl’s dresses, crocheted stuffed animals, and Gary’s hand-made wooden toys, to Community hospitals and children organizations, both local and as far as Africa. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of her life, Linda dedicated her time and talents within a variety of organizations and capacities as a leader and teacher, doing so willingly to show her commitment and love for her Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Snow Andersen Laughlin; her father, Eugene Laughlin; her brother, Brent Andersen Laughlin; and her spouse, Gary Lewis Klumker (2/21/23).
She is survived by her siblings, Annette Laughlin Burton (sister) and David Eugene Laughlin (brother). Her surviving children are Jeffrey Andrew Klumker, Jared Lewis Klumker, Jennifer Lynn (Klumker) Allen, and Jonathan Gary Klumker. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren: Jamie, Justin, Jacob, Jenna, Camilla, Kennedy, Kyle, Luna, Aubrey, James, Julia, Aiden, Brandon, Nathan, and Rachel. She is also survived by her 18 great-grandchildren: Sailor, Maxwell, Charli, Kamryn, Callie, Ren, Drew, Peyton, Julian, Lakelyn, Milo, Samwise, Alfie, Hadley, Grayson, Emmett, Dane, and Margot.
I CHERISH our Memories forever....Especially the Bike Ride together ❤️ at Redondo Beach ⛱️
We love you all & so thankful for all the many, many, many fond memories ❤️ 🎹🎶
Linda was a dear friend. I talked to her before her hospital procedure. I had no idea she had died until no answer to phone calls and no usual Christmas sketches. I' m so sorry to learn of her passing and send my heartfelt condolences to her children and sister. We were in Lambda Delta Sigma together and in Angel Flight. We had special times and laughs. I will miss talking to her and sorry I found out after her funeral. Celia Cutler
