On September 17th, 2024, our world came crashing down leaving a million little pieces that can’t be put back together. We are devastated by the unexpected loss of our dedicated, selfless, loving wife, mother, Grandma, and sister Lisa Lynn Lopez.
Born February 5, 1967 to Gail and Wilma Potter, Lisa was the youngest of 4 children. She loved growing up on Oakley Street and told fond stories of running through the alley, getting penny candy from the drug store, ice skating, and swimming with her neighborhood best friends, especially Ann and the Barendregts. She kept in touch with Ann mailing letters back and forth, even after texting and social media took off. Those letters meant so much to her and she kept them all.
Lisa married Marcos F. Lopez on September 6, 1986. They had just celebrated 38 years of marriage with a Steak and Malibu in honor of meeting at the Sizzler on 4th South and 7th East. She was a dedicated wife, staying by Marcos's side through everything including all the hospital stays, learning all she could about his procedures, and supporting his health recovery every single time.
Lisa spent 34 years working reservations for United Airlines (Continental), which allowed our family to go on magical adventures and vacations. Her favorite place was Kauai, her favorite Hawaiian island, where she had great memories with her kids, husband, and parents. Her other favorite place, despite the humidity, was going to Georgia to visit her Georgia Grandkids. She tried to fly out at least 3 times a year if not more- for each of their birthdays. Grandma Lisa was the best at making each of her 6 Grandkids feel special, and she was honestly each of their best friend.
Lisa rearranged her work schedule so she could babysit her 3 Utah grandkids for the last 8 years. During the day, she could be found crawling on the floor, creating art projects, and playing with the kids. It was her greatest joy in her life to see her Grandkids each day. Lisa was also a dedicated dog mom and preferred dogs over people most of the time.
Lisa was the best mom and was so proud that her 4 kids have college degrees, houses, and wonderful spouses. But, more importantly, she always told her kids how proud of the people they had become. Mom was our best friend. Our confidant. Our number one supporter. Our rock. It is unimaginable to do this life without her.
Lisa was an artist. A very talented, yet humble one. She hosted the coolest birthday parties for her kids with things like making clay bead necklaces and tie dying shirts. Lisa made creations out of clay, painted unique nesting dolls, doodled all the time, could write backwards, enjoyed face painting and water colors, and recently has been making resin creations. She did art for the love of art and being creative, and sold some so she could buy more art supplies. If it wasn't fun, she didn't do it.
Lisa loved musicals and concerts. But mostly loved that she got to experience them with the people she loved. She was always excited for experiences in her life. She loved their Broadway Across America tickets and seeing community theatre shows with her kids. Her favorite show was Wicked, which she said she could see a thousand times. She saw great bands like Journey, Styx, and REO Speedwagon multiple times in her life. She was also an avid reader with historical fiction being her favorite genre.
Lisa was the most kind and genuine person. She was honest, but really saw the good in the world. She loved fiercely and loyally. Even though she said she didn't have many friends, everyone who talked to Lisa felt important and like they were her best friend. She always said quality over quantity and had kept the most quality company in her family, friends, and pets.
To know Lisa is to know she could often be found wearing a gray t shirt with comfy pants and no shoes. And had her own version of a Mary Poppins bag that some how always had candy for the grandkids (and herself) in it.
Lisa is survived by her husband Marcos Sr., her 4 children and their spouses Tiffany and David Futral, Francescia and Brett Paxton, Feliciana and Jordan Goodman, and Marcos Jr. and Kylie Lopez, her 6 grandchildren who were her greatest joy Ainsley (16), Blake (13), Lexi (10), Averyana (8), Hayden (5), and Penny (1), her dog Bailey, multiple Grandpuppies and animals, her siblings Gailene (Jon) Hooper, Lori (Kevin) Monson, and Myron (Martina) Potter, her mother in law Mae Lopez, her sister in law Kristen Lopez Cordova, her Aunt Midge, many nephews, her favorite niece, multiple cousins and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gail and Wilma Potter whom she has missed dearly every day for the past 16 years, and Aunt Carol and Uncle Hyme, as well as her fur babies Bella, Kaiko, Ginger, Brandi, and Kambi.
“Because I knew you, I have been changed For Good.”
Love Marcos, Nini, your Angel, your Sunshine, and your Pookie Boo

Lisa is my dear friend and will always be. We grew up together in the same ward and went to all the same schools. She was always fun. Sleep overs at her house was exciting with arts and crafts and swimming! I did a lot of dares jumping into a cold pool! I can remember going to the movie Grease with her. She bought a Big Hunk candy bar and pulled out one of her back baby teeth with that hard candy during the movie! She is kind sweet and selfless. I love you Lisa! Until we meet again my friend.

I am so sad to hear of Lisa’s passing, she was my mom’s lifelong best friend and she meant so much to her. My whole life growing up, Lisa was one of the only friends who always sent my mom birthday cards every year. Even from another state, she always wanted to make sure my mom felt important and cared for… I know my mom is going to miss getting those letters every year. I hope your family can find peace and healing through all the pain. I imagine it’s probably an unbearable and overwhelming feeling trying to process something so unexpected. I wish you and your family nothing but the best.
I worked with Lisa at Continenal Airlines. We used to sit in the same cubicle and we went on a couple business trips together. We always talked about horses. I’m so sad to hear her passing away so young. And I’m so sorry for your loss😞💖
