Loretha was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Elaine, and a proud grandmother to John, Willainna (“Sweet Pea”), Jonathan, and Josh. Her legacy continues through her 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and the many extended family members and lifelong friends who were blessed by her kindness, wisdom, and generous spirit.
Born February 18, 1938, Loretha spent her early years in Waycross before later moving to Miami, where she met the love of her life, Joseph McQueen. Together, they built a life rooted in family, perseverance, and faith. She worked faithfully at Jackson Memorial Hospital for 30 years, earning deep respect for her dedication, compassion, and tireless work ethic. Beyond her career, she was an active member of the Eastern Star and remained a devoted participant in her church community, where her service and faith inspired many.
Loretha was preceded in death by her dearly beloved husband, Joseph McQueen, Vera Williams, her mother, and her beloved son, Anthony, whose memories remained forever in her heart. She will be remembered as a woman who gave freely of herself, always caring for her family, uplifting her grandchildren, and extending warmth and kindness to anyone in need.
Loretha McQueen’s life stands as a powerful testament to faith, resilience, and unconditional love. Though she has departed from this world, the strength of her spirit, the wisdom she shared, and the love she poured into her family will live on through the generations who follow her.
