Lorrie Douglas Dyer passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah after 2 massive heart attacks.
Lorrie was born in Prescott, Arizona on October 12, 1966 to Larry Wayne Dyer and Eleanor Colleen Eckel. He spent his childhood in Prescott AZ, Grand Junction CO, Orangeville, UT, and Pleasant Grove UT, where he graduated in 1985. He served a mission to Maracaibo, Venezuela, where he discovered a love for the culture. You would often hear Lorrie striking up conversations in Spanish whenever he could.

He was married to Cori Rose Ehlers and together they had three children: Jerehl, Emilee, and Spy, whom he loved with all his heart. They later divorced. On Sept. 6, 2017, he married the love of his life, Kathy Lynn Doman. Kathy and Lorrie spent five amazing years together.

Lorrie was a problem-solver. If he didn’t know the correct answer to something, he would research and investigate until he came up with the best answer. He was a bit of a perfectionist who took pride in his careers–making sure everything was done correctly and to the highest standard.

Lorrie was fun, playful, positive, and caring. He loved bright, vibrant colors, which was likely inspired by his time in Venezuela. Although he loved anything colorful, his favorite color by far was purple. He owned several purple shirts and socks, and you could find several varieties of purple flowers in their garden. Lorrie loved everything about life and was always up for an adventure. Some of his favorite activities were watching the sunset on a beach with his toes in the sand, cooking for his wife, or lying on his back watching airplanes or the stars. And, of course, he was well-known for his ardent love for ice-cream.

Lorrie will be remembered most for his kind and gentle ways, his sense of humor, and how he could make friends with anyone, anywhere. No one was a stranger. The love he shared with us, and that we felt for him, is immeasurable.

Lorrie is survived by his father Larry (Kathryn) and his mother Colleen; his wife Kathy; his children Jerehl, Emilee, and Elijah (Spy); siblings Shawny (Rex) Walker, Devin (Stacey) Dyer, Chad (Jonique) Dyer, Brindy (Joe) Ludwig, TJ (Jody) Dyer, Curtis (Marissa) Dyer, Neisha (BJ) Roberts; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. Friends are invited to greet the family during a viewing from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at the same location. Lorrie was awesome. Grew up playing basketball in PG with him. Then it was surprising to see see him in the same mission, Maracaibo, Venezuela. Though we didn't stay in close contact it was always a real treat to run into him at restaurants, and mission reunions. He always made me feel like we were best of friends despite time in between visits. Condolences to his wife and family.

He will truly be messed I am so thankful for him and his family for all they did for us over the years especially when it came to Ronnie but we all became good friends can't help not be coming friends with people like Lorrie! His family is in our hearts and prayers and we are here for his kids if they ever need a shoulder to lean on!

Wow, life is fragile! I served with Lorrie on the mission and had some great times! I remember that he taught me how to sing when we went caroling on Christmas in Maracaibo and we always had a competition to see who had the biggest forearms. He was a lot of fun. Later, back home in Utah as a college student, I worked for a bit for Lorrie’s mortgage business. I loved his zeal for life! God bless his wife, kids and family!

I am sad to hear of Lorrie passing.
I knew Lorrie through his Sister Shawny while in High School. Shawny, Lorrie and his family was a bright spot for me. I am grateful to have had their friendships. It meant more then they will ever know. I hope all who had the pleasure to get to know him can focus on the good memories.
My sincere condolences.
