Lyle Richard Knudsen

1940 ~ 2022

Lyle Richard Knudsen, 81, passed away June 5, 2022, in Salt Lake City. He was born on October 3, 1940, In Rock Springs, Wyoming to Richard Claude Knudsen and Ione Hobson Knudson (Hobby). He married Linda Sue Huddy in Salt Lake City, Utah, August 17, 1966.

Lyle graduated from West High School and the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture. He joined the Air National Guard during this time. He had his own Architectural Firm for many years. He then worked for the State of Utah in the Division of Facilities, Construction and Management. He proudly helped design the Utah Natural History Museum.

He met his wife of 55 years while working as a meat cutter at Albertson’s and going to college.

Lyle’s hobbies were cooking, pottery, racing, sail boats and camping. He also traveled the world with Linda and friends.

Lyle is survived by his wife Linda Sue Huddy Knudsen; daughter Jill Nikole Knudsen Copfer (Travis); grandsons Zachary Lyle, Bailey Aaron; granddaughter Zoey Abigail Copfer; and many dear friends. Lyle loved his daughter Jill and her family and appreciated all they did for him. He loved teaching his grandchildren how to throw pots with this pottery wheel.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 17, 2022, 12:00 noon, at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service.
