Lynda Kate Puzey Arnell
1942 - 2025
Lynda Arnell filled her life with friends, positive energy and good food. Her magnetic personality and zest for life drew people to her across generations. She laughed easily, was authentic and loyal, and cared deeply for those lucky enough to be part of her world.
Born May 10, 1942, Lynda grew up in Spring City and North Salt Lake, Utah, with her father LeGrand (‘Puz') Puzey, mother Gladys (‘Till’), sister Julien and brother Kim. She attended Bountiful High School and Utah State University, where she was active in many campus organizations and served as president of the USU Associated Women Students.
She later lived in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles and, for more than 40 years, in the Yalecrest neighborhood of Salt Lake City. In each place she gathered friends that would remain integral to her for the rest of her life.
Lynda valued social connections most. This could be meeting up for lunch, a phone call with her brother, dinner with a family up the street, an evening walk with a friend, a spur-of-the-moment catchup over a Diet Coke, meeting sorority sisters from USU days or keeping ties with high school friends on social media. In earlier phases of life, she enjoyed playing tennis with friends on the courts at UCLA and passionate card games at her mother’s house.
She traveled abroad many times but was deeply rooted in her Yalecrest neighborhood, where she seemed to know, and was loved by, everyone. She was a long-serving educator, an amazing mother to her son Brian and a caring and generous grandmother to her three grandchildren, who delighted in her charisma.
Lynda died on June 2, 2025, having made the most of her 83 years. She leaves behind her son Brian Arnell and daughter-in-law Tracey; grandchildren Zachary, Tess, and Zoe; brother Kim Puzey and sister-in-law Julie; and nieces and nephews Katie Hendrickson, Jacob Puzey, Tommy Puzey, Anna Landin, Aaron Puzey, and Dallin Puzey and their spouses and children. She also leaves behind many friends who consider her as close as family.
A memorial service celebrating Lynda’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Yalecrest Ward Chapel, 1035 South 1800 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108.
Never had the pleasure of meeting Lynda, but I'm positive it would have been a hoot to be her friend.
I feel like I should say that you are fortunate having the many years you had with her. I'm sure you will honor her memory in ways I can only imagine. Feel some measure of peace, my friends.
I feel very sad. She will be missed by so many friends and family.
Kim,
So sorry for your loss. She was a great person with a wicked sense of humor. She will be missed
Love,
Kathie
