Ileen Lynnette Stroud was born February 17, 1952 to William Glenn and Ileen Smith Stroud in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away July 3, 2025 at the age of 73.
Her parents were excited to be parents and welcomed Lynnette after 3 ½ years of marriage. They took her shopping for their first car when she was just 10 days old.
Lynnette and her sister Christine, who came along just 16 months later, grew up in a loving home close to extended family. She was raised in a simpler time when kids could be “free range”, playing outside, riding bikes and roller skating around the neighborhood.
Lynnette was an animal lover with a gentle spirit, always a champion for the underdog who believed everyone should be treated with compassion even when battling her own self doubts.
After graduation from West High School, Lynnette served an 18 month mission to Uruguay for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held various callings in the LDS church and loved teaching.
She worked for Aztec Printing and O C Tanner but her greatest joy and passion was researching names and gathering stories for the Family History Center at the Church Office Building. She did a lot of work on her own family lines and felt it was a privilege to be a temple worker in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.
Lynnette is survived by her sister Christine (Doug) Allen, nieces and nephews, cousins, one aunt Yvonne Murdock and especially her close life-long friends who cherish memories of her. She was preceded in death by both parents, grandparents and extended family members.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 9:30 - 10:45 AM at the Lake Ridge 15th Ward (7525 W Washington Rd. Magna, UT 84044) with the funeral to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
So many happy memories with Lynette. Our kids loved when she would join us on camping trips. She had her own bed in our tent trailer and usually had some craft she would bring along to share with the kids and was good at being teased right along with everyone else. In the summer we would eat out on our deck and our kids would watch for her to come home from work and call her over to dinner as things were just more fun when she was with us. We all loved the stories she had to tell and all the old sayings she had and how she could change her voice to sound just like Heber C kimball or any Disney character the kids were wanting. Lynette had so many talents and loved to share them. We would often lose our Tyler and we could find him sitting on Lynette’s step with her making something from beads or clay or whatever she was working on at the moment. She was like a second mom for our kids. We were so blessed to have her next door for so many years. Love you Lynette!💕
