It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret, who left this world unexpectedly yet peacefully on February 20th at the age of 77 due to complications from sepsis.
Margaret was a bright, beautiful, very determined, accomplished and passionate woman who built a remarkable life through hard work and resilience. She was a force and trailblazer in business. She turned her love for cooking and entertaining into Barkley's Cafe, a beloved establishment that reflected her creativity and talent. In 1997, she embarked on a new chapter, purchasing, remodeling and successfully running two boutique hotels in Puerto Vallarta Mexico for 27 years alongside her incredible business partner, Jon Jones. These were more than businesses - they were reflections of her hard work, organization, style, and love for creating spaces where people could come together and feel at home.
Margaret is survived by her three children—Chris, (Christine) Jessica, (Paul) and Ashley, (Jason)—and her two wonderful grandsons Dylan and Oliver Barkley. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Barbara Chapman and brother John Sutton.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor her remarkable legacy.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support received during this difficult time. While her physical presence is no longer with us, her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
