Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend Mary Bonnell Ashmead left this world unexpectedly on January 13, 2025.
Mary was born on July 11, 1977, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harry Bonnell and Ann Pixton. She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1995 and went on to acquire her nursing degree from Salt Lake Community College. She worked at St. Mark’s Hospital in the NICU until her health issues no longer allowed her to continue. On September 6, 2000, she married Jim Ashmead in Lake Tahoe, California. Together, they raised their son, Logan.
Mary had an unwavering love and devotion to her family, especially to her son Logan and her husband Jim. She was possibly the best mom in the world. Logan was the light of her life, and she loved him beyond measure.
Mary had such a sweet spirit and a spicy attitude (maybe it was the red hair). She loved to travel, but she especially loved Disney World, everything Disney really. She was a talented crocheter that could artfully craft beautiful baby outfits and blankets. She had a love and appreciation for music unmatched by any other. Any time you saw her; you would be hard-pressed to get away without listening to a new artist she had found. She loved the meaning in the lyrics. But most of all, she had a profound love of animals, particularly cats.To her, they were the epitome of innocence and unconditional love.
Mary leaves behind her devoted Husband Jim Ashmead and loving son Logan Ashmead; mom and stepdad Ann and Frank Pixton; siblings Randy Bonnell, Lisa (Jeremy) Roberts, Jeremy (Michelle) Bonnell, Camille (Matt) Primm; her nieces and nephews McKayla, Ansley, Carson, Abby, Evan, and Stella, as well as many other extended family members and her two cherished cats Dexter and Freyja. She is preceded in death by her father Harry Bonnell.
While we are devasted by her loss, we are grateful she is no longer in pain. We will miss her loud sassy remarks, her sweet quiet spirit, and, of course, the constant playing of music.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary or the Humane Society of Utah.
Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything. —C.S. LEWIS
Please join us in honoring Mary, in a Celebration of Life, January 24, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM at Le Jardin 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy, UT 84092.

OMG!! I am devastated. I just found out of her passing. I knew Mary online, through the years, when she was a wrench for Doomcock on Friday Night Frolics. A gentle soul, kind and sweet. I am praying for strength for her family in this terrible time. I know she has found eternal rest with the Lord, and I too will keep her in my heart, always.
We love you Ginger Menace
Rest in peace Mary, your pain has ended. Spread your wings and fly. You will be missed.
I spent many happy Friday nights chatting with Mary aka 'Ginger Menace' on a YouTube livestream. I will always remember talking about music with her and I will miss her vivid presence and warm spirit. My sympathy and love go out to her family and friends.
