1941 ~ 2025
Mary Lynne Polad, 83, passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah. She was born on October 25, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Vonna Fullmer Polad and Harry Emanuel Polad.
Mary Lynne grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from East High School. She later studied at the University of Utah. Mary Lynne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various capacities, but teaching the Sun Beam class was her favorite. She is a loving, generous, and caring sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She took many of her nieces and nephews on fun trips to places like Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World and Zions National Park.
She had a lengthy career as a software engineer with the Federal Aviation Agency, which included time working in Utah, Guam, New Jersey, and California. She liked the continuous learning opportunity that came with her chosen career path.
Her greatest life accomplishment was being a true follower of Jesus Christ and living his gospel throughout her lifetime. Secondary to that, her dedication to her beloved nieces and nephews. Because Mary Lynne was never married, she treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She had a close relationship with her sisters and loved celebrating birthdays and summertime trips to the Shakespeare Festival for over 30 years.
She loved traveling of any kind, and her favorite TV show was Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and she watched nightly with her sister Shelley and niece Nicole. She loved the color blue! She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Her life was long and good, and she served others in extraordinary ways throughout her life.
Mary Lynne was preceded in death by Parents, Harry Emanuel Polad and Vonna Polad. Brother Linden F. Polad, sister Vonna Rae Plescia, Nieces Tammy Rolfson and Maria Plescia, Great-nieces Korinne and Olivia Plant, and Grand-nephew Austin Powell.

Shelly, my heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry to hear of your sister's passing! Great Aunt Mary Lynne was always so kind to Lynn, me and the kids. She treated us so warmly and made us feel welcomed, even when we just popped in. When she lived in Salt Lake City with G.G. Grandma Vonna we'd drop in and just chat with them both. Mary Lynne did love to travel! She usually had stories about her latest vacation adventure and told us about where she was planning on going next. She was such a thoughtful person too. She always remembered each of our birthdays. The kids loved getting birthday and Christmas cards from her! She made us all feel special and very loved. We'll miss her! Sending our thoughts and condolences to the family.
