Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; Maureen Thompson Haskins “Mimi” passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy, Utah on April 25, 2021, at 86 years old.

Born on October 15, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Max and Ruth Thompson. Maureen was the oldest of 5 siblings: Alan, Norm, Patricia, and Marion. She told stories of her carefree childhood in Salt Lake City where she and her brothers spent their days playing at Fairmont Park, climbing the Sugarhouse Monument, and sliding down the Avenues in the snow.

Maureen worked at a Nursing Home as a Nurses Aide for over 20 years taking care of the elderly. She was a hard worker, devoted to her patients, and formed bonds with many of them. In both her career and home life Maureen was inherently a caretaker and her most cherished role was that of a mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were her whole world. She often took on the role of second parent to her grandchildren.

Maureen was the most selfless, loving, and kind person on this earth. She accepted every person she met without judgment, approaching strangers to offer compliments or pet a dog. She had many friends during her life because of her kind heart and accepting spirit.
She loved all animals and took in many stray pets that she cared for over the years. She called them her “babies” and spoiled them rotten. White Fang, Mutley, Lika, Bonnie, and Mikey just to name a few.

Maureen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved the Gospel, and her faith never wavered. She was a Christlike example to her Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren and shared the gospel with them. Maureen spent many of her younger days teaching Primary Classes and held positions in the Relief Society Presidency. She loved to go to the temple and spent much of her time doing temple work.

Survived by her children, Cindy, and Chris, also her siblings, Norm (Wanda) and Marion. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer), Shalamar, Leon, Jeffrey, and Casey (Ashley). Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren; Keenan (Hailee), Sophie, Sadie, Abigael, Mylo, Gage, Skyler, Lily, Kaylee, Landon, and Olivia.

Preceded in death by her sons, Jeffrey, Kevin, and Craig. Also preceded in death by her parents, Max and Ruth, and her siblings, Patricia, and Alan.
