Our dearest mother, grandmother and friend Meriam Arlene Henrichsen Bowler passed away on April 3, 2025, of natural causes in Salt Lake City. She was born on November 19, 1934, in her grandparents’ home in Provo, Utah to Edwin Harold Henrichsen and Bessie Meriam Harding Henrichsen.
At the age of 2, the family moved to Salt Lake City where she attended Hamilton Grade School, Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from East High School in 1953. While attending these schools, she met Donald Lee Bowler. They were married on May 8, 1953, and always joked with each other that they were elementary school sweethearts. She worked while Don was drafted to serve in the Korean War and was able to save money for a lovely home when he returned. They raised their family in their first home in Rose Park and made many memories there with their three boys. She worked as a radiology technician for many years. Upon retiring, she and Don spent many years as snowbirds traveling to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico where they enjoyed the warm winters and made many friends.
Her life was full of caregiving. At a young age her mother had tuberculosis and was in the hospital for over three years. During this time, she helped take care of her sister Karen. She was a caregiver to her loving husband and their children. Later in life she took care of her mom and sister again until she passed in 2012.
Her loving, kind and grateful attitude made whoever encountered her from doctors and their staff, employees at the grocery store, and many of the caregivers in assisted living, love her and they would go out of their way to make her happy by accommodating her needs.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary Scott (Susan), Mark Robert (Annette), and Curtis Ray (Anita). She has 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Bessie Henrichsen; her loving sister Karen Henrichsen; and by husband Donald Bowler by only a handful of months.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Capitol Hill Senior Living Center especially Susie for their loving care of our mother. Special thanks also to Jenna, Clara, Cheryl and Wayne of Utah Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and support to her and her family.
Graveside services will be held at the Provo City Cemetery on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 am. There will be a visitation on Sunday, April 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City.
