Michael Boyd Strong was born on August 26, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri. He passed away while skiing on March 14, 2025, at Powder Mountain, doing what he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Mike was married to Susan Bartley on June 1, 1973, and together they built a beautiful life filled with joy and companionship.
Mike was the beloved son of Boyd and Marceil Strong. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Bartley Strong, and his loving children, Bart (Elizabeth) and the late Jarod Strong. His grandchildren, Sydnee, Maguire (Marika), and Parker, were a source of immense pride and joy for him.
He is also survived by his siblings, Brent (Val) and Brad (Camille), along with many nieces and nephews who adored him. Mike attended Lehi High School and the University of Utah, where he made lifelong friends and memories.
An avid golfer, skier, hunter, and fisherman, Mike found peace and happiness in the great outdoors. Golfing with family and friends was one of his greatest joys. For 30 years, he was a dedicated ski instructor at Brighton. He also really enjoyed teaching members of his family to ski.
Mike was always up for adventures with his brothers including horseback rides and hunting trips. He was also well known and loved in his neighborhood where chatting with the neighbors was one of his favorite things to do.

Guestbook/Condolences
Susan, we will miss Mike dearly. It is hard to describe our feelings about you and Mike. You have been such amazing friends. We have enjoyed the time we have spent together golfing, eating out, attending concerts, and visiting. We have shared so many fun stories and have so many things in common.
Our adventures together will not end, but they will be different. We will miss Mike’s company, his humor, and conversation.
Mike will remain in our thoughts and hearts. We are so grateful for the time we had together.
Susan "Bart",
I am sorry for the loss of your husband. I was shocked to hear of his unexpected passing. I know how much you loved him and will really miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I only wish I lived closer to express my condolences in person and give you a big hug. I enjoyed the time you, Bev, and I were able to reconnect at Christmas time and look forward to seeing you in November, when my daughter gets married in Utah (11/28). Please take care and remember you will always have a special place in my heart.
Love, Mindy
You welcomed me into your lovely family like I was one of your own, and shared many stories and photos from your active life with me over the years. I will miss chatting with you when I visit Utah, and I am saddened I never got to let you teach me skiing like I had promised many times. You will be dearly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about this. Our deepest sympathies and love go out to you Susan, Bart and the Strong family. Mike has a special place in our lives and hearts. A good neighbor and friend, always helpful, easy and kind.
I'm so devastated to hear about Mike, my love and prayers go out to his family. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Mike was a good, practical, skilled, machinist who was of great help to me at work. I also consider him a friend. I will miss him and remember working with him.
My condolences.
I’m so sad to hear of Mike’s sudden passing. I worked with him at Brighton Ski School for 25 years, and was pleased to know him as a colleague and friend.
I can say that we were all shocked and saddened to know he was no longer with us. He was a calm, steady presence in the special world of the Brighton family. He will be missed.
It is a rare and special thing to be able to live doing what one loves, and Mike showed us all how that was possible.
I greatly enjoyed working with Mike Strong over the years before he retired. He was a super sharp machinist and would come up with creative ways to solve difficult problems. He was always willing to help. He saved the day at the plant time and time again. He was a great guy and so welcoming and nice to talk with. I enjoyed many a conversation in the shop with him over work and things outside of work as well. I was glad to hear he was enjoying his retirement and doing what he liked to do. Very sad to hear he is gone. He will be missed.
I'm sorry to hear about Mike, our wonderful friend in ski school. I think about my last run with him last week, it will be memorable. Mike was one that was always booted up in the morning. Ready to go out at 9:00 am. I will miss the conversation about hunting, and and talk about where to ski, how lucky we were to be where we were in the snow. I have skied with Mike for a long time over the years. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed. May you find comfort in your own loving memories and peace from the faith that lives within your heart. With heartfelt sympathy.
Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts on the mountain! Ski School friend ☺️ Sharon Gilbert
I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was such a great guy, kind, and fun to talk to.
As a kid I always enjoyed visiting Uncle Boyd and Aunt Marceil’s home, and to visit with the boys and all the fun and adventurous activities they did..
I regret I never had the opportunity to ski with him as we spoke about doing at Uncle Ron’s funeral last year.
I was out of town and could not attend his funeral, but grateful that it was broadcasted over zoom and was able to attend on it.
My condolences and love to the entire family. He will be greatly missed no doubt. He leaves a giant void in this world.

So very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I worked with him for many years at the Brighton school. Such an exceptionally kind and gentle person! I loved hearing his stories about his adventures on the mules. I wanted to be there with him. I miss him and think of him often, I'm sure. My condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, my friend. With love, Carolyn.
