It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and brother Milton K. Alexander, 81, who passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Mick was born on July 15, 1943, to Milton D. Alexander and Afton Knight-Alexander in Burley, Idaho. He was the second oldest of five children. He spent the first eight years of his childhood in Burley until the family relocated to Shelton, Washington. It was during his time in Washington that Mick found a love of the coast, seafood, sports and all things government and history from his Uncle Clyde Knight. He attended Irene S. Reed High School in Shelton where he excelled in track and field. During his senior year, the family returned to Burley, Idaho, where Mick graduated from Burley High School.

Once graduated, he enlisted in the Navy, seeing most of the United States and settled in New York. Eventually, Mick decided to return to the western U.S. to be closer to his mother and siblings. He married and had three children: Leslie, Jason and Marnie.

Mick moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1981 where he met the love of his life ReNée and her son Michael. They married later that year and had three children: Matthew, Rebecca and Sarah. They were blessed to celebrate 43 years of marriage before his passing.

Mick believed in family above all else. He was known by all as laidback, selfless, fun-loving, passionate, and always willing to help out those in need. He enjoyed going on long drives, listening to oldies music, watching true crime stories, reading and learning new things. He was an avid fan of sports and politics, traveling to new destinations and spending time with family and his three grand-kitties.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton D. Alexander and Afton Fox, daughter Marnie Lovato and sisters Faye Rappleye and Cheryla Hortin. He is survived by his wife, ReNée Alexander, children Michael DeCorso, Matthew Alexander, Rebecca (Jeremy) Jensen, Sarah Alexander, Leslie Alexander and Jason (Chrisy) Alexander; grandchildren Sean (Kristina) Alexander, Jasmyn Alexander, Mark (Nicole) Connelley, Mitch (Angela) Connelley, McKenna (CJ) Park; eight great-grandchildren, siblings Gae Alexander, Thomas (Connie) Alexander, Brenda Jackson, Karen (Dan) Ross and many beloved family and friends.

We offer our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Mick’s healthcare team at the University of Utah, the staff at Legacy Village Rehabilitation and Aspire Home Health & Hospice.  We especially want to thank his hospice nurse Aman and aide Rosa who gave such sweet, compassionate and caring service to Mick in his final days. Thank you Aman, Rosa and other staff members many times over.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 11, at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary on 1950 E and 10600 S in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12 PM-1:45 PM. Interment and graveside procession to follow in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in the Garden of the Last Supper.

For those unable to attend in person, funeral services will be streamed via Zoom for those who are able to watch virtually. To watch the services, please click the "Watch Services" button above.
