We are heartbroken to announce that our sweet mom, Nancy Ellen Page Taylor, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, from complications following a surgery. We all agree that her death on Valentine’s Day must be a reminder to all who knew her to love each other more and better, with that big-hearted, unconditional love she showed everyone. Love was her superpower.
Nancy was born on May 24, 1957, in Logan, Utah, the daughter of Merrill Ray Page and Ellen Stanton Bailey Page. She was the second oldest child of seven and was a peacemaker in the family. The glue. The person you’d go to if you had a problem you didn’t know how to solve, and she would always listen.
Nancy had a variety of jobs during her life: she was a stay-at-home mom; a backup singer in a band; a waitress at The Bluebird Cafe; a switchboard operator at Utah State University; a restaurateur whipping up bleu cheese dressing and fruit pies; a digital editor, tidying up images and text in early reading booklets for publication; a customer service agent at a call center; an elementary school computer literacy teacher, and later a substitute teacher.
In her mid-40s, Nancy decided to get her college degree. She received a B.S. in Communications with a minor in Instructional Technology from Utah State University, graduating the same year her oldest daughter graduated from high school (1997). She inspired in her kids a love of learning and curiosity about the world.
Nancy had a few meaningful spouses/partners over the course of her life, but the love of her life was Kim Taylor, with whom she shared 20+ years. They met in 1998 at Ellis Elementary, where Nancy taught computer literacy, and Kim managed IT for public schools in the district. Both avid Potterheads, Kim’s Ravenclaw wit and humor was an excellent match for Nancy’s Hufflepuff heart, and they became a pair almost immediately.
Nancy will be remembered for her giddy excitement over Halloween season, her obscenely large collection of tiny houses (both for Halloween and a separate set for Christmas), her green thumb (especially for persnickety tropical plants—we’re looking at you, hibiscus!). She loved all things Celtic and First Nations, all kinds of music, and anything purple. She’ll be remembered for the many times she swooped in to babysit for a sick parent, flew across the country to attend a beloved’s graduation, or sent a surprise care package to remind someone she was thinking of them. She adored her family and loved nothing more than having all her kids and spouse together in one place for Harry Potter movie marathons, puzzles, beach walks, mushroom-hunting extravaganzas, and spontaneous dance parties.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father and two siblings: George Page and Connie Leigh Isabell Page. She is survived by her mother; her spouse, Kim Taylor; her five children and their spouses and/or partners: Clare (Shawn) Reaveley, Dayna (Charles) Patterson, Daniel (Amanda) Kidd, Daris (Angie) Page, and Derek (Stephie) Page; her 6 grandchildren; her four siblings and their spouses: Patti (Walter) Achatz, Juli Page, Merrill John (Eileen) Page, and Kathleen (Mike) Page Turner; and her former spouses/partners.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 21, from 11am-1pm in Le Jardin at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1910 Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, UT 84092. Friends and family are welcome to come share memories of Nancy and wear purple in her honor, her all-time favorite color. Light refreshments will be served.
An After Gathering for friends and family will be held at Publik Space on Friday, February 21, from 5-10pm, at 975 South West Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101. Light refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate donations to help cover funeral expenses. You can donate through Venmo: @Kim-Taylor-2. Any proceeds will go to Nancy’s grandkids’ college funds.
