Narda Hallstrom, born on June 6, 1939, in Idaho Falls, ID, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her warmth and positivity. Narda was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Hallstrom, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Narda embraced life with a joyful spirit, spending cherished moments with her four grandchildren, Jackson, Alex, Hunter, and Kennedy. She had a special way of making them feel loved and valued, often playing Yahtzee and sharing sweet treats. Her passion for family was evident during the holidays, which she celebrated with enthusiasm and countless memorable stories.
An avid fan of Jimmy Buffett, Narda brought her infectious energy to his concert in Salt Lake City in 2018, dancing with a vivacity that captivated those around her. She loved the simple pleasures of life, such as her favorite Mexican restaurant, La Cocina, where the staff knew her well and enjoyed her delightful tales over chips and salsa.
Narda was also dedicated to her community, having spent 25 years working at American Express. Her generous spirit extended beyond her family, as she contributed to the fight against Macular Degeneration by donating her eyes for research.
Known affectionately as "Maude," Narda was characterized by her happy demeanor, sarcastic wit, and genuine kindness. She found joy in the little things, whether it was relaxing on her patio in Salt Lake City or Mesquite, NV, indulging in a good romantic novel, or enjoying a gin martini. Her love for sports blossomed over the years, particularly as a devoted fan of the University of Utah Utes and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Narda's adventurous spirit took her on memorable journeys, including a family trip to Costa Rica, where she reveled in the beaches, sloths, and fresh seafood. Her smile was contagious, and her laughter could light up any room.
She leaves behind her children, Todd (Trish) and Krista (Chris), and a legacy of love that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Narda Hallstrom's life was a celebration of family, laughter, and the joy of being together, and she will be profoundly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. Narda was my favorite patron at the State Library! We would be on the phone for at least an hour anytime she called. I will truly miss her and our conversations. She was a sweetheart.
