Saturday Apr 27, 2024 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Our beloved wife, mother and Yiayia, Patricia Panayiota Lucille Demopoulos Talmadge passed away April 15, 2024. Pat was born October 19, 1939, in Pocatello Idaho to Paul and Kay Demopoulos. She attended Bonneville Elementary while also attending Greek School, Franklin Jr High and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1957. In high school, she was a member of the Pep Club and a staff member of the school newspaper, The Pocatellion. Of course, she was also voted the friendliest in her class.

In 1959, Pat married Richard Phillips, together they had five children; Rick, Bob, Cindy, Tim and Rita. In 1981 Pat married Larry Talmadge. She raised her children in Rose Park where she remained until recently. After high school she worked for Mountain Bell. She was PTA President at Newman Elementary while her three oldest children attended. She worked in the school district as a paraprofessional and taught GED classes. She also taught Hunter Safety classes with Larry. She was everyone’s favorite Tupperware lady for many years. She worked for JC Penney, Southwest Airlines and Jet Blue. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and sang in the youth choir; she was extremely proud of her Greek Heritage, OPA! She loved to drive by the Greek Church before she left town where she could do her cross and again upon her safe return. She loved to go on long car rides to explore. She was very protective of her children and her grandchildren and always made sure to call everyone at the end of the day to make sure everyone is home and accounted for (and you better answer…) followed by a prayer, listing everyone by name. Pat had a bazillion friends, everyone loved her – she also had lifelong friendships from as early as elementary school.

In February she moved to her granddaughter Cori’s house in Kaysville; Larry, Cori and Cori's family took wonderful care of Yiayia in her final days. She passed surrounded by family. She was excited to be greeted by her oldest son Rick who passed in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Rick and her grandchildren Elena and TJ Phillips, her cousin Greg Manos, niece Annie Demopoulos and brother-in-law Terry Haggardt. She is survived by her husband, Larry, brother Tom Demopoulos, sister Rita Haggardt, children Bob Phillips, Cindy Taylor, Tim (Leslie) Phillips, Rita (Ken) Norlund, grandchildren Cori Phillips (Jesse Greene), McKell (John) Goodhue, Paige (Aaron) Gingrich, Jacob Swensen, Bridget Phillips, Eliza Phillips, great-grandchildren Justin (Kenzi) Phillips, Jackson (Aubrey) Greene, Jaden Horsley, Johnny Goodhue, Marcy Gingrich, James Goodhue, sister- in-law Vicki Baxter, nephews Paul Demopoulos, Danny Baxter (Jennifer and family), Jeff Baxter, cousins Tom (Pam and Stacy) Harris, Dean (Kathy) Harris.

A big thank you to Canyon Hospice Company especially her nurse Carly, and her CNA Brandi; they were so wonderful, so loving and kind towards her and our family. We are so grateful to have had them take care of our sweet wife, mom and grandma.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 1-3 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Guestbook/Condolences

It is hard to say good-bye to an old friend. Patty was the best phone friends anyone could have. Patty was voted the friendliest person in the class of ‘57 but we never spoken a word to each other in High School. But we started talking by phone sometime in 1990 and I don’t think there was a single month since then that we did not talk to each other at least once. We solved most of the world problems on the phone. We discussed everything from “birth of babies” to “victim of war” very openly. We had many good laughs and we shared many tears together. We both loved Poky High and thought the class of ‘57 was and will always be the best. I will miss her, our conversations, and her up friendship.

Dear Family,
I will love your wife, mother, and grandmother, my dear Aunt Pat, forever.
I’m so grateful that in 2018 Aunt Pat came to my wedding reception! (I loved seeing Cindy and Rita too of course)
My fondest memories include the most recent phone calls with her, but especially when I was a little girl. I can still imagine her laugh!
I’m so thankful for the years we had together as family & friends. Until we meet again Aunt Pat, thank you for the wonderful memories and the love you showed to me.
Hugs & Kisses, Little Debby
