Paul Ronald Peay passed away March 6, 2025. He was born November 5th, 1943 in Provo, Utah, to Paul Duke and Eileen Jex Peay. Ron was blessed with one sister, Roberta, with whom he shared two short years of life. Ron lived in Utah all his life, settling in Davis County where he graduated from Bountiful High school in 1962.

Ron served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the New Zealand South Mission. Ron showed his love for the Savior and those around him in a variety of Church callings and assignments, including serving in a bishopric and in the temple as an ordinance worker.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He traveled with the Army fastpitch softball team, playing throughout Texas and Oklahoma.

Ron earned a bachelor’s degree from Weber State, where he met his lifelong companion, Kirsten, in an acapella choir class. He later earned a master’s degree in education from Brigham Young University.

A lifelong athlete, Ron excelled in multiple sports, including softball, basketball, volleyball, and golf. His love for sports carried throughout his life as a player, coach and respected official.

Ron spent 37 years as a beloved educator in the Jordan and Canyon school districts, where he made a lasting impact on his students. Most of his teaching career was spent in elementary education, where he had a unique ability to connect with students. Ron loved music, and in addition to his time in the classroom, he spent many hours leading children’s choirs and showcasing his talents and love of music.

Ron passed away peacefully on March 6th, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Kirsten, his six children Brandon (Greta), Eliisa (Jeremy) Butler, Jeffrey (Trystal), Andy (Jessica), Jon (Tori), and Michael (Jade); 21 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Kirsten,
As I look at this wonderful picture of Ron, memories of a cappella choir and Weber State Singers wash over me. I so enjoyed the friendship with Ron and you. We had lots of fun times practicing, performing, and going on tour.
I am so sorry your life here on earth with Ron has been cut short by his graduation to heaven. I feel the two of you must have had a good life together, expecially with your children and their families. Ron was an amazing person. He had a zest for life that was contagious. We were excited that one of our children, David, had him as a third grade teacher at Altara Elementary.
I hope your life will continue to be a good one, and that you will continue to have a wonderful life with your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around you, even though you all will miss Ron.

Love,
Verla Jean

I was an Aide at Draper Elementary for 10 years when my kids were growing up. We loved Mr Peay. A great teacher and the kids loved him. Several of my kids had him as a teacher , if not all of them. He was a joy to be around.

We were saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. We were able to watch the funeral service broadcast, it was nice to hear the family tell of remembrances growing up with Ron as their Dad. It seemed that the theme of most of the talks mentioned being grateful for everything you have, and do your Best in everything you do. We pray that your family will be blessed and comforted at this difficult time.Sending Love and prayers, Bruce and Susan Dame.
