Peggy Jean Walker, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on September 27, 2024 in Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 87 years old. Peggy was born on July 22, 1937 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was lovingly raised by her mother, Sereta E. Button, and father, Gordon J. Button, alongside her brother, Michael J. Button.

Peggy’s love for her family was unconditional and all encompassing. Her best friends were her daughter and granddaughter. Peggy was an animal lover to the nth degree. Always willing to take in a stray. Peggy was also an avid reader, a trait inherited by her granddaughter. Amongst family Peggy was known as “Little Martha Stewart” due to her problem solving and decorating abilities.

Peggy is survived by her two children, Leslee Walker and Gregory B. Walker. Granddaughter Asya Rose. Great-granddaughter Serafina Rose.

Our hearts are broken but we find solace in knowing Peggy has been reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother and all the animals she loved and cared for over the years.

As we mourn we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. Your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. The love you left behind is immeasurable.

My Aunt Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She led a life of service to her family; always tending to their needs with care and love. I have wonderful memories of her and the family. We loved her dearly and will miss her greatly, but she will remain with us.
“Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touches some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you’re there.”
