Peter Clifton Ottosen was born March 12, 1940, to Clifton Nephi (Tip) Ottosen and Dorothy Margaret (Teed) Peterson in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the second of four siblings. He attended Uintah Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High, and East High and then earned a BA and MBA degree from the University of Utah. While at the University he was affiliated with the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He served an LDS mission from 1960 to 1962 in Norway. He worked for the Forest Service, Kennecott Copper, Armstrong Cork, and Motorola where he worked for 30 years. He married Ellen Smith in 1963. They had two children, Amy, who married Jérǒme Demoulin (Luc, Lauren, and Peter), and Peter Matthew, who married Rylan Owens (Brittany).

Pete was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for about 25 years and enjoyed the many campouts and activities. One of his favorite hobbies was hiking and backpacking. He served as a volunteer for the Red Cross, and Phoenix City Parks and Recreation, where he would climb Camelback Mountain several times each week keeping watch over the trail. He worked for two years as a volunteer for the sport of Biathlon, climaxing with working Biathlon for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics and Para-Olympics.

In 2001 he participated in Sea Trek, sailing on a tall windjammer ship in Europe and Scandinavia to commemorate 150 years since the first LDS immigrants sailed from Scandinavia. He and his wife served in the Stockholm Temple in the early 2000s and served several times in the Mesa Temple. Pete was a strong LDS member and served the LDS church in numerous positions.

A favorite summertime activity for Pete and the family was to go to the Pines Ranch in northern Utah where they had a summer home. Pete enjoyed building fences, maintaining trails, and setting in a load of firewood for the colder months. A horseback ride was common and entertaining guests was a delight for Pete. He was a caring person who loved his family, friends, God, and his country.

Our family is very grateful to the staff of the Beehive House of Draper and Applegate Home Health and Hospice Services for their compassionate care of Pete. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation and Humanitarian Aid from the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS.

I haven't known Peter before net him at Beehive Homes of Draper facility.
Whenever he made it to the meal time in dinning room, he through the struggle showed strength and compassion for others.
He left so much for not only the family as an great example of courage, aim, and love living his life as a strong man to carry his responsibilities, and enjoying outdoors.
May memory of him and his life's adventures keep his family comforted at the difficult time of loss!

Pete and Ellen were my neighbors in Arizona for over 30 years. I loved them dearly. Pete was a “Renaissance Man”. His interests were broad and varied. There was not much Pete couldn’t tackle. He was a kind and compassionate man who deeply loved his family . He fought his health problems for many,, many years. He was so brave.
I shall miss him. Rest in peace dear neighbor.

For all of Pete's family we want you to know that we loved him, as scoutmaster, ward leader in many ways, friend and great servant of the Lord. It has been our honor to know him and to love him.
From his skills in working with our sons, being the parent of Amy and and her brother. for his leadership and talent in listening, comforting and teaching those around him.
Our six sones will always lovingly refer to their scoutmaster and friend as Eater Pottosen............we knew this disciple of Christ and loved him. The Mel Owens Family

Our condolences to Pete's family. Garry was a Beehive Homes of Draper neighbor and we enjoyed his company often. Whenever I asked him how he was doing, his response was always, "Oh I'm getting by!" He was always so pleasant and kind. May God's peace and love be with you!
