Robert Conder, known to friends as Buck, passed away peacefully in his home in Erda, UT with his loving wife, family and cherished dogs by his side, he was 77 years old.

Buck was born in May 1944 in Murray, UT to Melvin N Conder and Iva Lee Frier. At the age of 15 Buck joined the US Marine Corps and successfully completed boot camp and was placed in advanced infantry training before his true age was discovered. He later creatively changed his birthday to February 19, 1942 so he could rejoin the military. He joined the Army at 16 and proudly served for 13 years. He was a drill instructor, Military Police, and a Platoon Sergeant among many of his duties in the military. He served two tours in Vietnam earning a silver star, 2 bronze stars and 3 purple hearts.

Buck owned many different businesses over the years. The most notable was Tri-City Business Products, the largest Panasonic copier dealer in the Western United States.

Buck was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings in the church with the most remembered being a door greeter. He was always welcoming to all that came and had a pocket full of tootsie rolls to hand out, but his favorite was serving the youth. For more than 16 years he loved having the neighborhood children over every Wednesday for “Pop and Chip.” “Thanks for being my friend. Just be nice.” — Buck

Buck was a generous, caring and loving father, grandfather, partner and friend. He loved everything about the outdoors including camping, boating and four wheeling. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Waffle Friday quickly became a family favorite each week. He loved all animals especially his dogs and goats.

Buck is survived by his wife of 29 years, Linda Romer; sons Robert (Kimi) and John (Heather) and their mother Deanna; his daughter Jackie and her mother Francis Franco; his step-children Denise (Gary) Marsing, LouAnn Rodgers, Margaret (Wade) Stocking, Shane Shelton and Dawn (Dane) Miller; his siblings Melvin (Joann) and Carol Merworth; and 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by sister Patsy Berry and brother David Nielsen.

We would like to send a special thank you to his family, friends, neighbors and caregivers for their love and support.

A Celebration of life will be held on June 1, 2021 at the church on 2450 West 10400 South, South Jordan, UT with a viewing at 9:00 am followed by the funeral at noon. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens at 1950 East Dimple Dell (10600 South), Sandy, UT.
