  • Our beloved “Robbie ", "Bobert", Robert, and "Ruben or Rube” Faulkner, passed away July 31, 2021

Robert Earl Faulkner, beloved Son, Brother, and Uncle, passed away July 31, 2021, at the age of 56.

He was born in Provo, Utah on July 2, 1965, to J. Earl and Joyce Christenson Faulkner. At an early age of 9, Robert lost his mother and at 22, lost his father. This was very traumatic. He was grateful for family, friends, and neighbors.

Growing up in Orem, he was involved in Scouting and church activities, attended Geneva Elementary, Orem Jr. High, and graduated in 1983 from Mountain View High. He was on the Sophomore and Junior JV football teams and on Varsity defensive team his Senior year which was cut short for hip surgery. He carried his love for football through his whole life, being a Minnesota Vikings fan, the home team of his mother. He jokingly said he was a member of the "Church of the NFL". On trips to Minnesota to see family, he made sure to pick up a souvenir of the Vikings.
Robert worked for the Orem City Parks. He was a reliable, hard worker and became supervisor of the crews assigned to his designated parks and the Orem City Cemetery. He was awarded with the "Going beyond the call of duty" recognition for his dedicated work.

During this time, he met and married Nannette Smith on August 14, 2000. She brought with her, her two children Jeff and Heather. Later Nannette suffered health problems leaving her an invalid. Robert was dedicated to her care and had to retire to care for her.
Robert has been living with his sister Becky in Sandy for the past 6 years and has been a JOY to us all especially Becky's family. He is survived by his siblings, Lori Smith (Scott), Holly Graczyk, Rocky Graczyk, Becky Horlacher (Andy), and James T. Faulkner, along with Nannette's children, Jeff and Heather, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife who passed July 2012, and a sister Jerusha Faulkner Twiss & brother-in-law Troy Twiss who both passed away July 2013.

We will miss Robert's Kind heart, witty sense of humor, helpful attitude, and football enthusiasm. Especially his love for the Minnesota Vikings.
There will be "A Celebration of Life" for Robert. We will be gathering to share some of our favorite memories, our stories, to laugh, to cry, and remember a loved person who is greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on August 28th from 10 am until 10:45 and the Celebration will be from 11:00 am until 1 pm behind the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building at 590 North 900 West Orem, Utah at the pavilion. You may wear any football shirts, caps, or memorabilia and share in his passion. Friends and family are invited. Burial will be at the Orem City Cemetery.

I will always hold a special place in my heart for Rubin. He was my rock when I needed him. He was like big brother to me. I have since remarried and left the state! I just found out recently that he passed away! Shocked really he was to young and never would thought he be gone! I am sorry that I grew apart and left my past behind. I am in touch with few people this how I found out! Sorry for your loss! I know that I am lost for words but he has never left my heart! I wished that I could have kept closer to him. He was at one point my big brother! He did make you laugh and smile all the time! Love you and miss you even more knowing that I will never see him again. Tina

Robert was always pretty quiet and shy, so I never really got to know him till I was older, but he would tell us stories sometimes about working at the cemetery. He would joke a lot about death, but he said no one ever jokes about the babies. “The babies always broke your heart.” He said with a very sad, knowing look in his eyes.

He had a kind heart and would let the nieces and nephews play in his space and never shooed them away. He would try to make things fun for them and keep them out of trouble.

He was a kind uncle, and I will miss him.
