1954 ~ 2026
Robert Kerry McCafferty, age 71, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loved ones on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in the comfort of his own home.
Rob was born on February 6, 1954 at the LDS hospital to Silas and Bessie McCafferty. He grew up in Salt Lake City Utah, where he attended Skyline High School. Rob worked as a city driver for Motor Cargo, and later for UPS. He was recognized multiple times for his safe driving and later retired after many years of service.
Rob was passionate about golfing, fishing, and gardening. He had an amazing green thumb! He spent many hours playing darts, pool, golfing, and fishing with his brother Dave McCafferty and brother in law R. Gordon Royter, whom he has now been reunited with. While at home he treasured his time with his life partner Charlotte. He appreciated sports and loved to see any Utah team do well. He was an avid Jazz fan that never gave up hope of winning the next big game. He also enjoyed watching golf tournaments and a good boxing match. When he wasn’t watching sports, he enjoyed game shows and comedies such as Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Family Feud, and Married with Children.
Rob was the most honest and loyal person to all who knew him. He whole-heartedly believed in Karma and frequently reminded & taught us about treating everyone with respect and accepting without judgment. One of his most frequent sayings was, “Live and let live.” He believed in allowing everyone to follow their own paths in life while highlighting the good in all.
He was an amazing father, grandpa, and friend. He valued privacy and found peace in personal space, though with family or friends his humor would uplift many and he could almost immediately be recognized by his unique and infectious laugh. He loved animals and was the type of man who “didn’t own a dog” but often took care of a lot of them. He enjoyed watching many birds that visited the fancy feeders he placed for them.
Robert Kerry McCafferty is survived by his 3 children Damon McCafferty (Stacy), Tianna McCafferty (David Sutton), and Kierra McCafferty, his life partner Charlotte, and his 2 sisters Linda Dewyea and Sandra Royter, and his 4 grandchildren Lily, Marissa, Noah, and Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents Silas (Bish) McCafferty and Bessie McCafferty, and his 2 brothers David McCafferty and Greg McCafferty.
My deepest condolences to you and all who loved him..your beloved daddy is now the strongest guardian, angel, you could have.I hope you find comfort in the remembrance of the love and affection you shared your entire life hugs and kisses to you, kierra
