Roger was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, the youngest child of Floyd and Jessie Morrow. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Gloria Morrow, and a loving father to six children: Ryan (Lani), Rod (Kim), Jeremy (deceased 1976), Justin (Aislinn), Jessica (Mick), and Melanie (Ryan). He leaves behind 26 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was also cherished by his two late siblings, Don Morrow, and Joan Naylor. His family remembers him as their hero—someone who consistently put others before himself and left every person better than he found them.
Roger dedicated his life to service, both professionally and personally. He served as a police officer for the cities of Oakland and San Leandro, California, working in various capacities, including as a Traffic Division Officer, SWAT Sniper, Lead Accident Investigator, Department Armorer, and later retired while serving a second assignment in the Motorcycle Division, which was the true love of his professional career. His commitment to law enforcement was matched by his devotion to his family and his many talents.
Beyond his professional achievements, Roger was a man of deep faith and unwavering dedication to those around him. As a young missionary, he served in Hamburg, Germany. Later in life, he served as a church service missionary on Temple Square, providing security. As a former Bishop, he lived as a Christlike disciple and always sought to uplift others. He prided himself on being prepared and living according to the Spirit.
Roger spent a lifetime developing and sharing his many talents. He was a skilled draftsman, architect, leather craftsman, bootmaker, woodworker, and artist. He also mastered knife making, jewelry crafting, and calligraphy. You could always find Roger tinkering in his shop on some new project. He had entertainment in his blood, and his personality reflected that. In his youth, Roger learned to tap dance and play the trumpet and guitar, developing a beautiful singing voice. Later in life, he learned to play the piano, organ, and harmonica, among various other fun and quirky instruments, making him a delightful entertainer.
Roger had a passion for gardening and maintaining his home—not a Saturday went by without him and his sons working in the yard, with his detailed, checkbox-style chore chart nearby. Never one to hire a service professional or laborer, he relied on himself and his three sons to get the job done.
A military veteran, Roger honorably served in the United States Marine Corps, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division. He was also actively involved in Scouting, serving as a Scoutmaster for all three of his sons.
He had a passion for high-adventure activities, including camping and backpacking throughout the years, even in the heavy Sierra snow, traversing the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim with his young children, and covering every corner of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. He was an avid lifelong cyclist, and led an annual multi-day ride from the Bay Area to Yosemite with the young men riding alongside. They concluded their epic cycling adventures in San Simeon, California, visiting Hearst Castle.
Roger’s legacy of service, faith, craftsmanship, and the development of his many beautiful talents will live on in the lives of those he touched and the family he raised. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Carla
Sorry for your loss. I know he will be missed. I had an opportunity to work with Roger on several occasions. I can't say enough about him, such a great guy. Craig
Dear Gloria and Family,
The long goodbye is over. What a difficult time for you and I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I am so grateful for Roger and how very kind he was to my Bob as we moved into Garden Park and tried to feel at home. Roger befriended Bob and connected with him as Marine Corps brothers and shared his motorcycle cop stories with Bob. We downsized and moved here because of Bob's forgetfulness and increased need for help. Roger made the transition so much easier for us. What a great man he is!
I'm looking forward to us all being with our loved ones, all of us being in our entireties.
Love and prayers,
Susan Butters
