Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather took his final road trip toward the setting sun on March 29, 2026. Led by his guardian angels (daughter) Kim and (son) Ty, he was sent off on his journey by his surviving daughters Kari and Traci, and wife of 70 years, Sharon.

Ronald was born to parents Marvin and Viola Young on April 21,1936. He was the oldest of three children (siblings Sandra and Donald), and was a South High graduate. He later earned a degree in business administration at the University of Utah (where he also briefly played football before getting married).

At the ripe age of 19 and 16, Young (Ronald) met Young (Sharon) – no relation (yes, we checked), and the love story we all know and love began. It was a quick romance – meeting at a ward dance in November, and married weeks later on December 18, 1955. Their first child, Kim, was born in November 1956, followed by Kari in April 1958, Traci in October 1960, and Ty in November 1962.

As a young father, Ron proved to be a great provider. He worked two jobs – at SE Furniture, and a paper route – all while still attending school at the U. He eventually made his way into sales in the after-market auto industry. It is here that Ronald became a self-made man. He traded on his word (which was always solid) and because of this, he enjoyed a long and successful career.

His children remember Ronald as a wonderful father. Although he traveled a lot for work, the kids felt that he never missed a beat and knew that when he came home he would make up for his absence in spades. They were an active family, and Ronald the immaculate provider for all the family fun.

Ron himself had an unwavering love for the outdoors; you name it, he did it. But ALWAYS with family and friends in tow. Ron was an avid hunter and fisherman and instilled a love for camping and boating to both his children and grandchildren. Later in life, the camping and fishing trips with kids and grandkids continued, but a new love for Harleys and ATV rides opened the door (or should we say, road) to new adventures with his family. Ron also loved golf. He was an accomplished player, and continued the game well into his 80’s.

Despite his lifetime of success, Ron never allowed wealth to drive him. He was a man rich in family, and generous in charity. He quietly gave to others on a daily basis. Not only of his time and effort, but also his money. He took the hardest parts of life and allowed his experiences to guide his charitable efforts for a lifetime. He was a big supporter of Shriner’s Children’s Medical, a tradition he carried on for his Dad who was very involved in the organization. He donated to The Leukemia Foundation following his daughter Kim’s brave battle with the disease, and Primary Children’s after the care received following his granddaughter’s premature birth. Other favorite charities included the Red Cross, and countless others that we aren’t even aware of because he contributed quietly and without fanfare.

Ron touched many lives with his wisdom, humor, unwavering spirit, and perseverance. But none more than those of his family. His legacy will be carried forward by all of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ronald is preceded in death by his daughter Kim, son Ty, sister Sandra (Joe), father Marvin, mother Viola, and step-mother Alice. He is survived by wife Sharon, daughters Kari (Chuck) and Traci, son-in-law Dan, seven grandchildren – Carli (Keith), Dustin, TJ (McKenzie), Ashley (Jeff), Britton, Jared (Alicia), and Hali (Matthew), ten great grandchildren – Kaeden, Carter, Jase, Rowan, Declan, Eisley, Porter, Quinn, Scarlett, Willow, and brother Donald (Kit).

Dinner to follow services.
