Rosie Kink Halliday
Aug. 24, 1926 ~ Jul. 5, 2025
Rosie Kink Halliday, our loving matriarch, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on July 5, 2025 at her home at the age of 98. Rosie was born August 24, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois, to Mary Kejzar and Frank Kink, both of whom immigrated to America from Yugoslavia in the early 1900s. Rosie graduated from Carbon High School in 1943. In 1945 Rosie met Paul Halliday while both were working at the Salt Lake Tribune and were married June 18, 1949. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 18, 1965.
Rosie was the youngest of eight siblings, four brothers and three sisters. Her brothers were Frank Jr, Jack, Rudolph and Martin. Her sisters were Pauline, Mary and Annie. All preceded her in death.
Early in life Rosie took cooking lessons to hone her skills in preparing family meals. She often ground her own flour from wheat and would bake bread for the family. She would prepare school lunches regularly for her children.
Rosie was a favorite of the neighborhood as an Avon Lady representative. She would involve her children in helping to deliver orders and pamphlets to her customers. She was also a favorite working in the family law firm for 35 years.
Rosie enjoyed walking with friends in the halls of the Cottonwood Mall. This joy followed her to Park City where she participated in many July 4th 5K races taking first place in her age category. She also enjoyed skiing and playing golf with her family.
The family spent many July 4th vacations at the condo located at Park City. Rosie would manage the rental of the condo involving grandchildren with trips to help clean after a nightly rental.
Rosie had a love of reading and enjoyed the newspaper, Prevention magazine and Reader’s Digest. She enjoyed TV programs such as Perry Mason and Lawrence Welk and regularly watched the 6 and 10 o’clock news. She enjoyed playing games with her family and her favorites were Bingo, Trouble and Uno.
Family was most important to Rosie and she developed loving relationships with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Often grandchildren were invited to travel with her in the motor home for work and pleasure. Many of these trips would be to St. George, Park City, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, California and Lake Powell. Rosie participated in many boating excursions even though she was not a strong swimmer. She could be found on the boat with her life vest securely fastened to her chest and holding firmly to the handrail.
Rosie was a convert and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony was strengthened while serving for 12 years in the Salt Lake Temple. She served in various capacities throughout her life which included a service mission in the inner city of Salt Lake and various other service callings.
Rosie is survived by her children, Susan (Duff) Clawson, Nancy Camille Halliday, Paul (Vicki) Halliday Jr., Diane (Brett) Mann, Brent (Kristy) Halliday, 15 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, at the Mt. Olympus Stake Center, 4176 Adonis Drive, Millcreek Utah 84124, at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be held at the same church prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M.
Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
It was easy to love Rosie. Her “do it right” attitude with compassion and tolerance for all was contagious. Her determination was evident no matter the situation. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord and her family. My years working with Rosie at the law firm are fond memories. I am so glad to have been her friend.
I sincerely join all who love Rosie. May your sorrows be overcome by sweet memories. Families are forever.
Dear Paul and Vicki, I just read your mom‘s obituary and she was a great lady. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sending my love to you and your family.
