Samantha Sue Johnson

Samantha “Sami” Sue Johnson passed away on August 21, 2022, in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born on August 9, 1987, In Salt Lake City, UT to Aaron Troy Johnson and Mishawn McKinley.

Sami was known for her love of animals as she cared for everyone that she came across. Almost everyone in the family at some point has received the gift of a lost pet at one time or another. She was never one to back down from a wrestling match with her siblings and would give some of the best hugs to friends and neighbors. When Sami was little, she looked like a little mouse and was given the nickname Fievel which became her favorite cartoon character. Sami really enjoyed art, it did not matter what form, if there was paper, pen, pencil, or crayons around she would be creating something. Some of her other favorite pastimes were going out shooting with the family, hiking with her dad, and collecting geodes.

Samantha is survived by her lifelong partner and best friend Cade Scarbrough, parents Aaron Troy (Lisa) Johnson of Salt Lake City. Mishawn (David) McKinley of Salt Lake City, stepfather, Phil (Twyla) Torkelsen, siblings Anthony (Chandee) Johnson, Shantaya (Cody) Casaus, Patrick (Rebecca) Torkelsen, Austin McKinley, and Cambria (Jacob) McKinley, grandparents Brent and Sue Miller, Gailand Gates, Maxine McKinley, and her nieces and nephew, Kylie, Autumn, Averie, Ryker, Ensley and Freya. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Bill and Rhea Johnson and Marie “Nana” Torkelsen.

She will be missed tremendously and the emptiness in our hearts can never be filled.

No formal gathering will be held. A private celebration of her life will be shared by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local animal shelter.
