Sheril Nathan Larsen, a cherished father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully passed away on March 22, 2024, on what would have marked his 50th anniversary with his beloved wife. Surrounded by family, Sheril passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.

Born on April 20, 1943, in Elsinore, Utah, to Nathan and Alice Larsen in the home of his grandmother. Sheril was the third of five children. His formative years were spent in Glenwood, Utah, where he cultivated a deep appreciation for family and community. Following his graduation from Richfield High School in the class of '62, Sheril pursued studies in accounting at Stevens Henager College.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sheril served a mission in the Gulf States, followed by military deployment to Bangkok, Thailand, during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he embarked on a 34-year career with JCPenney, eventually serving as Loss Prevention Manager at the Cottonwood Mall store.

Sheril found his lifelong companion in Judy Merrill, whom he married on March 22, 1974, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised four children, Nathan, Ryan, Tara, and Kristie, in Sandy, Utah, where their home was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

An avid gardener and outdoor enthusiast, Sheril found joy in camping, tending to his garden, and spending quality time with his family. Known for his compassionate nature, Sheril dedicated much of his time to serving in various church callings, with a special affinity for assisting the elderly.

Above all, Sheril's greatest joy came from being a grandfather to his eight grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. Hailee, Jessica, Austin, Kade, Parker, Caleb, Kinzie, and Brooke were affectionately known as “Grandpa’s Angels”. He showered them with love, guidance, and unwavering support.

Sheril is survived by his children, Nathan Larsen, Ryan (Tina) Larsen, Tara (Tyler) Metcalf, and Kristie (Josh) Luke, along with his siblings Clayone (Richard) Torgersen, Sharon Allen, and Brent Larsen. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Judy, a brother Paul Larsen, his daughter-in-law Lorie Larsen, and other dear family members.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses at Ashford Assisted Living, particularly Sheril's hospice nurse, Austin Evans from Serenity, for their tender care during his final days.

Sheril's kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will forever be cherished and deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be a blessing and source of comfort to those who mourn his loss.

Services will be held Friday March 29. 2024 at the Hillcrest 5th ward chapel 915 E. 9045 S. Sandy, Utah. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Thursday March 28, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy, and from 9:30-10:45 am prior to services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens. Hi Larsen family, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad and grandpa. What a nice guy to have in our neighborhood and ward. I remember running into him once at a JC Penney and then my mom told me what his job was. I thought that was so cool - like he was an undercover spy. I'm glad that now your parents can be together again, though I know from experience how sad it feels to be without them. Our family is thinking of you.

Aloha To Sheril,s family and friends,
Such beautiful memories and love in the things spoken. Thank you. And my heart goes out to my cousins...elderly or far away who could be present to show love and respect thru zoom!
I'm 5 years younger than Sheril and my memories are of our childhood,. Our lives took different places and paths and were not interwined to much. Very dear to hear how He was as a man and lived his like. Again as they say in Hawaii, Mahalo.
With love,
Shari Temple
