Sherrie Lynn Velasquez

1962 ~ 2022

Forever remembered, Sherrie Lynn Velasquez, 60, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2022 in Sandy, Utah. A beyond beloved mother, crazy grandma, daughter, sister, aunt to many, friend to all of those who knew her and a bonus Ma to the many children that her kids kept bringing home who she lovingly welcomed with open arms. A mother whose love for her children fueled the even greater love for each and every single one of her grandbabies.

Sherrie was born on June 5, 1962 in Salt Lake city, Utah to Joe Velasquez and Janet Roswell Velasquez. Sherrie was the life of any party. There was never a dull moment and she was always ready for any kind of adventure. Her laugh could be heard miles away while her smile and infectious personality would light up any room she entered. And just like any momma bear, she was there to protect her children with full force. Her children gave her life and the laughter, friendship and love that she always radiated was because of how close her bond is and will forever be with them and all those sweet little ones who she adored more than life itself. Although little, she was beyond feisty, but the best kind. If Sherrie wasn't with you somewhere having a good time, you could find her hanging out with Fred in the birdcage. Not only was Sherrie one you could go to and vent about all of life, she was also one to give and give making sure no one went without. Always helping no matter who it was. She gave shelter to anyone who needed it and always made sure to check on others regardless of what was going on in her own life. She was and will forever be the best crazy grandma and these babies will miss her beyond measure. Thank you for the countless times full of belly laughs, the mischievous adventures and all of the times you held everyone together. This is not goodbye, but see you later!
She is survived by her 3 beautiful children and best friends; Nicole Bateman (Trenton, Boston-8 and Daxton-6), Brittney Burnham (Alicia Burnham, Raelynn-5, Thomas-3) Kyle Bateman (Kinzley-5) and Heather Paul (Mercedes, her son Bentley-5, Brody and Kaleb), Her sister Debbie Evans (Jason, Brandy and Jeremy) her brother Joe Velasquez (Tanya, Tiffany and Joey) and many of the little ones who she loved just as much as if they were her own grandbabies.
She is preceded in death by her father Joe Velasquez and her Mother Janet Rowsell Velasquez. Many family members and friends who she loved dearly.
You made a huge impact to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing you. Late nights, early mornings and even in the middle of the day, we all knew we could count on you to make whatever was going on a bit easier. The world is dimmer without your contagious light, and you will be sorely missed.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 11 am at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:45 am prior to services at the same location. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.

I haven't the words to say my friend. We have been through one hell of a ride. Although, I haven't spent much time with you in the past few years...when we did get together, oh how we shared secrets. YOU were the best Sherrie. I will forever miss your face. I love you and will help take care of your grandbabies and kids. And thank you for taking care of my Stephanie when I wasn't around. Love you bunches, Leona
