Stanley Levern Morgan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, military veteran, and pillar of his church community, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born in Richville, Utah, on March 24, 1935, to Leonard Levern Morgan and Katie Watts Morgan, Stan built his life around serving others. He proudly served his country for a collective 27 years in the Marine Corps, the Air Force, and the National Guard, attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He held many roles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where his faith and dedication were an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a constant beacon in the lives of his family, ever-present for his adoring wife, LuJean Morgan (Despain), their five children, Lee, Linda (Ron), Patty (Jeff), Jackie (Kelly), and Clay (Julie), and his 67 grand-, great-, and great-great-grandchildren.

Stan was a loving husband to his wife and dream girl, LuJean Despain, whom he married at the Laie Temple in Oahu, Hawaii while he was stationed there. The two spent nearly every moment together and can now reunite to share eternity together.

Stan’s unwavering service was matched only by the calm, kind spirit he shared with those around him. Beneath his polished exterior—pressed shirt, combed hair, or maybe a sharp fedora—Stan had a light, easy laugh, a warm smile, and was always quick with a joke (whether corny or clever).

Stan had many jobs throughout his life, from radar technician to air traffic controller and even dump-truck driver, but in his free time, Stan was a master woodworker. He spent countless hours honing, sanding, and polishing pens, bowls, and other beautiful wooden pieces. And like so many other parts of himself, Stan gave these mementos away for lucky recipients to cherish for a lifetime. Stan was also an avid reader, a lover of puzzles, crosswords, and Western movies (anything with John Wayne), and a fan of his personal hero, Charlton Heston. Stan loved classical music and was a lifetime violinist who passed his talent on to his family.

Stan is preceded in death by his wife, LuJean Morgan, and his sister, Betty Fern Morgan Anderson and his brother Jerry R. Morgan (Karen), as well as his siblings-in-law, Norma and Keith Hansen, Edwina Archer, Sharon and Genevieve Despain, and Weston Despain. He’s survived by his brothers Clyde Morgan and Robert H. Morgan, and his siblings-in-law Warren Archer, Charlene Despain, Ron and Ardeen “Dee” Simmons, his sons and daughters, as well as his many grand- and great-grandchildren.

Stan’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith, his dedication to service, and his love for his family and community. He’ll be remembered as a craftsman and musician, a service member and a father, but most importantly, as a giving and humble man of faith.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests taking your family to breakfast at your favorite spot in honor of Stan's memory.

Viewing and funeral services will be held for Stan at the LDS Stake Center located at 9880 South, 3100 East.

Guestbook/Condolences

You were a great one. Our Home Teacher for 41 years. We will miss your smile and sense of humor. And the many breakfasts and dinners we shared with you. Your woodwork gifts will always remind us of your Kindness and generosity.

Rest in Peace my dear friend.

It breaks my heart that I will not be sitting across from Stan anymore enjoying breakfast at one of his favorite places. He would talk for hours about the family and share pictures of the great and great-great grandkids. But I know he is having the most wonderful reunion with LuJean! It makes my heart happy to think of them together again. I am so grateful for Stan and the "surrogate" father he has been to me over the years. I sure will miss that grin and special chuckle he had while telling his corny jokes! My thoughts and prayers are with the rest of the family at this time.

Stan was a giant among men. We served together when the stake was young. His counsel and enthusiasm were so valuable. We regret not being in Granite for the service, as we are serving a mission in Chile.

We have known Stan for many years since we first moved to Granite. He made pens for our three sons when they went on missions. He has been our home teacher for several years and has made us wooden gifts, took us to breakfast, and never forgot our birthdays. He has come to our home for dinner with the seniors. We all enjoyed his many stories about his lifetime. We loved his kindness to us. He always left us with a prayer. RIP Stan until we meet again. Much love, Eddie and Jan Hansen

We have learned so much from Stan. He set a great example in the tender way he cared for LuJean. He taught us that you are never too old to develop talents and learn new things—and that knowledge and talents are best when they are shared. In every way he was a perfect gentleman and a class act. We will treasure our pens and his memory.

Your Father was the true epitome of a gentleman. Although the sting of Death is hard....we have to rejoyce that he is with his beloved wife. I was lucky enough to receive one of his beautiful works of art as a crafted Dolphin jewelry case. It is lovely.

I miss you Grandpa.
