With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Stephen Tighe Sinclair who left us on June 17, 2024 at age 57 years old. Steve was born on September 3, 1966, to William and Joyce Sinclair in Oklahoma City. Steve spent his formative years in Oklahoma, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Louisiana and Texas where he earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Texas in 1988.
Steve’s engineering career spanned 20 years in Houston and 14 years in Salt Lake City, where he was involved in the design and construction of large projects, primarily in the oil and gas industry. Steve was a great engineer, and incredibly hard working, and maintained professional engineering registration in several states. He worked both in the U. S. and overseas. While living in Houston, he spent more than 18 months in Africa in areas such as Trinidad, Nigeria, and Angola, supporting construction of both onshore and offshore facilities.
In parallel with his engineering career, Steve was always an entrepreneur. Starting all the way back in high school, he had a small business selling floppy discs to his classmates. He grew his small businesses, selling an array of items online through eBay, and then eventually through his own e-commerce website and store. He worked incredibly hard and dedicated himself to building a successful business, it was his dream. He also shared in his wife Janet’s dream and worked side by side with her to build a successful real estate investment business.
Steve had such a warm, easy-going, and caring personality, always funny, and always so much fun to be around. Everyone loved spending time with Steve, and he was the most considerate person we know, regularly reaching out to make sure his family and friends knew that he was thinking about them. His dry sense of humor and quick wit, often delivered with no emotional expression, left us laughing out loud. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, exploring the beauty of nature, travel, his greyhounds and other pets, and enjoying time with family and friends.
Steve was a strong Christian, and an incredibly good human being. He held himself to the highest standards of behavior and was trusted and loved by his friends and family members, especially his wife Janet and daughter Emily. Steve, Janet, and Emily formed an instant family and Steve loved every moment of being a husband and a dad, and now a grandpa. Steve was also an amazing son, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He left an indelible impression on so many and will be dearly missed.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents William and Joyce Sinclair. Steve is survived by his wife Janet of Heber City, Utah, his daughter Emily (Scott) and grand-daughter Minerva of Bountiful, Utah, his sister Susan (Richard) Gomez of Palos Verdes, California, brother John (Pamela) of Cody, Wyoming, niece Sara Gomez of Silver Lake, California, nephew Connor (Kelsey) Gomez of Brooklyn, New York, cousin George (Sarah) Suppes of Burlingame, California, in-laws Larry and Debbie Clayton of West Jordan, Utah, brother-in-law Richard Clayton of Murray, Utah, sister-in-law Charity (Keith) Brown of Taylorsville, Utah, nieces Alexis Clayton and Freedom Flowers, and nephew Maxwell Clayton, all of Salt Lake City, Utah.
A service will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, Utah on Saturday, June 29 th at 2:00 PM, with visitation from noon to 1:45 PM. Instead of flowers, Steve would be honored if you sent a text or made a phone call to someone you love to let them know that you are thinking about them. This was his superpower.
Guestbook/Condolences
Dearest Janet and family,
Todd and I are devastated for your loss. Steve was a treasure, we always enjoyed our time when we had the pleasure to see you both. My memory of Steve was his genuine nature, his kindness and love for his family and friends. I always loved speaking with him about his eBay store and learning about his latest projects. Such a smart man! I pray for you all, and I pray you feel the love of Jesus Christ holding you tight. Much love Gretchen and Todd
Steve, I know you will continue to do well what you do - lead! You are now partners with the angels.
Our sincere condolences to Steve's loved ones. We met Steve as a young enginneer in Houston and always enjoyed his company. He and Roy kept in touch throughout the years. We know his happiest years were in Utah with Janet and Emily. May all your precious memories soon bring you peace and comfort.
Steve was and will always be my friend. I first met him at Roche Engineering where I discovered his wit and sense of humor. Steve was a fantastic Engineer and friend. He always had a drive to discover how things worked.
Although I lost contact with him after he left I.C.P.E. I would think about him at times and wonder how he was doing. Heaven has gained a great man.
We extend our sincerest condolences to the family.
There are insufficient or adequate words to express our emotions in light of the devastating news regarding the passing of Stephen Sinclair.

Dear Janet, Emily, Family and Loved Ones,
My husband considered Steve his absolute best friend. Larry enjoyed Steve’s humor and work ethics and entrepreneurial spirit.
At one time I joked about Sampson and Son as they both thrived on resale of computers and such. Steve took this to another level with his Furniture shop and he so enjoyed assisting you Janet in your Real Estate.
It is with a broken heart that Steve is no longer with us. I cannot imagine your loss but as a believer I know Steve is with Jesus and is at peace and awe of our AWESOME GOD!! You and your family will be in my prayers. ✝️🙏
Janet and Susa there are no words for this moment
We are thinking of you and praying God give you strength to go through this hard times.
Hope you can find peace in your hard.
So sorry for your lost !
Love
