Steven H. Ballatore, age 75, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Sandy, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Tony and Lillian Ballatore.
Steven grew up in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, where he enjoyed a happy childhood and later graduated from Highland High School. Shortly after, he bravely volunteered to join the army, serving for 1.5 years and fighting in the Vietnam War.
Upon returning home, Steven worked alongside his father in the Buehner Concrete finishing department for many years. In 1979, Steven married the love of his life, Kathie Ballatore, and together they raised two beautiful daughters, Tazia and Tycee. Steven’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase and run a video shop for about four years. Later, he found fulfillment as a city letter carrier for the USPS, a position he held for 15 years before retiring.
Steven was a man of many talents and hobbies, with woodworking being his passion. He meticulously crafted keepsake pieces, including end tables, chests, chess boards, picture frames, jewelry boxes, doll furniture, walking sticks, and more. His creativity and craftsmanship brought joy to those who received his handmade treasures.
In July 2022, Steven was diagnosed with leukemia (AML). Despite the challenges, he faced his illness with strength and determination, cherishing every moment he could spend with his loved ones before ultimately losing the fight.
Steven is survived by his beloved wife, Kathie Ballatore; daughters, Tazia (Matt) Lingwall and Tycee Ballatore. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Treydon (Isabella) Burt, Ambrea Stasinos, and Malakai Ballatore-Martinez; step-grandchildren, Natalie (Crewse) Petersen and Carson (Shaylee) Lingwall; and his brother, Dennis (Launa) Ballatore.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Lillian Ballatore.
