If there was ever an individual so loved, it would be Teague Andrew Murphy who passed away unexpectedly at home on February 17, 2025.

Our beloved son, brother, dad and fiancé, Teague, was born on December 5, 1974, to Micheal Earl Murphy and Patricia Ann Swapp. His parents had a few different names picked out before his birth but as they were at the library one day his dad saw an old Irish book and decided he wanted to name him from that. He found the strong Irish name of Teague in the book and knew that was the one. Andrew was his great grandpa’s name, and it all worked out perfectly for their beautiful baby boy. He was an answer to a prayer as they were told they shouldn’t have any more kids after his sisters were born. What a joy he was from the start.

When Teague was three his mom remarried and they all moved to a small farm in the town of Hamer, ID. He and his sisters loved running around the farm exploring. They made many forts out of the haystacks even though it was a huge no-no! They had many animals and were always playing among them, as only a true Idahoan would. A horse named Chip was given to Teague and he was the best horse any child could have. Teague and his sisters would stand on a big tractor tire and wait for Chip to come around and pick them up and he would do a circle and drop them back off. They all loved growing up together as a bunch of hooligans on the farm!

As Teague got older the more mischievous he became. If he wasn’t tinkering around with something he was inventing something new. He once took apart an old radio of his moms and made some kind of intercom. He put the speaker in his mom’s room and had a transmitter in his room downstairs where he would randomly talk while my mom was in there. She thought there were “spooks” in her room and when she finally figured it out, she was amazed at his ingenuity and we all had a good laugh.

Teague loved anything mechanical as well. He probably knew more about the trucks and tractors and how they worked at age 16 than most of the farmers around. He was constantly following his stepdad Perry around learning new things. He loved the farm life and all it entailed so much that he purchased 640 acres which he hoped to later turn into his own farm.

His intellectual mind worked in ways that would serve him well later in life. His father, Micheal was an airplane mechanic and he loved talking to him about mechanics and the physics of how things worked. He loved listening and learning all he had to teach him. It was a no-brainer when he told us he was becoming a diesel mechanic. This was the area he thrived the most in and he excelled at every job he had in the field. He had the most massive custom toolbox you have ever seen and he still would buy new tools often in addition to the many tools he handmade and used daily.

On October 1, 1996, Teague became a father to Dylon Thomas Murphy. When Dylon was a young teen they became inseparable. He is definitely Teague’s mini-me in every way. They had so many adventures together and were rarely seen apart. The had the opportunity to work together at CR England and they purchased a “crack house” (Teague and Dylon named) together and got to work fixing it up. Many adventures and laughs ensued as they YouTubed half of it and guessed on the rest!

Teague rarely went anywhere or met anyone who didn’t take a liking to him. He lit up every room and could easily become the life of the party. He finally dared to put himself out there online and quickly developed a relationship with Christina in August of 2022. They talked every day, especially the year while she was in Texas and when she returned, they continued their loving relationship and discovered they were soul mates. They would have been married on May 3rd of this year. Everyone was looking forward to their wedding as he had finally found happiness at long last.

Some of Teagues greatest passions were dirt bike riding on trails anywhere and everywhere, camping with BIG bonfires and cooking. He particularly loved his new smoker and used it frequently with delicious results! He was a man of all trades and loved figuring any, and all things out by himself.

He loved his family with his whole heart, and it showed every day. He would do anything for any of them. He was a warm, loving light in all their hearts and will be so greatly missed.

He is survived by his dad, Micheal Earl Murphy; mom, Patricia Ann Swapp (Hugh) Sandall; sisters, Shannon (Stacy) Tuckett, Kristin (Jon) Castleton; son, Dylon Murphy and Teague’s fiancé Christina H and her daughter Cynthia H along with many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Clinton Earl and Claudia Murphy and Mont and Shirley Swapp.

Funeral services will be held at Larkin Mortuary in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 1. Address is 260 E S Temple St. Viewing is from 1-2pm with service following. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed via Zoom. Please click on the "Watch Services" link above.

Patty, I am so very saddened for you, and for Marilyn and all the Swapp family. I have said many times that one of my biggest fears is to outlive my children. And 50 yrs old is way too young to leave this earth. You are all in my prayers.

I am deeply saddened by Teague's passing and can only imagine how those closest to him must feel. As a father myself, I imagine that losing a child must be one of the hardest things to endure on this earth. As son, I imagine losing your father before his time is beyond heartbreaking. As Teague's cousin I am mourning all our loss, the loss of such a wonderful person. To Teague's immediate family, I am so sorry for your loss. I was crushed when I heard the horrible news. To all that knew Teague, and knew him well, I regret that I didn't get to know him better and I lament the fact that I will never get that chance. May all who loved him find peace in due time. You all have my most heartfelt wishes.
