Devoted mother, grandma, and great grandma Verna Mae Larson Rostrom passed away October 23, 2024, of natural causes at home surrounded by her loving family. Verna was born November 4, 1934, in Vernon Utah to Elmer and Alta Larson. Verna married David C. Rostrom on June 10, 1955.

Verna often talked about her happy childhood in Vernon. Verna and David raised their four children in Sandy, Utah and retired after working more than 20 years as a lunch lady for Jordan School District. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling, gambling, camping, boating and riding ATVs.

Verna’s highest priority in life was her family. Verna enjoyed Diet Coke, Butterflies, spending time in her yard caring for her flowers and did her best to keep the critters away. Verna loved going shopping and was always on the lookout for a good deal. She looked forward to weekly Granny day where she was able to spend time and enjoy her kids, grandkids and great grandkids who called her GG. Verna spent hours out in her sunroom putting puzzles together while listening to her favorite music. Her family was often asked to help put in a piece or two of the puzzle because she always said it was her hardest one ever! During her last days her grandkids and great grandkids lovingly finished GGs last puzzle for her.

Verna is survived by her four children, Roger (Sheryl) Rostrom, Karla Welch, Debbie (Chuck) Moon, and Dave (Kayleen) Rostrom. Thirteen grandchildren, Brooke, Matt, Mike, Shane, Billy, Lacey, Shyann, Jessica, Misty, Shilo, Amie, Luke and Heather. Thirty-two great grandchildren and sister-in-law Louise Jensen. Preceded in death by her husband David, son-in-law Calvin Welch, parents, sisters and brothers.

Family viewing Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Larkin Mortuary 3688 W. 12600 S. from 10:00 to 11:30am followed by Graveside service at 12:00pm at Herriman City Cemetery (12465 S Pioneer Street (6000 West).

What a wonderful lady. Sam and I recently visited Aunt Verna and she said several times how good her kids and grandchildren were to her. She truly loved and appreciated her family.I will miss her laugh and how welcomed I always felt in her home. I’m sorry for your loss and look forward to when we’re all together again.
