1948 ~ 2025
Vicki Haynes Bishop died peacefully at her home on December 4, 2025. She was 77.
Vicki was the oldest of four children born to Dr. Howard Haynes and Marjorie Robbins Haynes on September 24, 1948, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was an adorable and energetic little girl who some people said looked like Shirley Temple.
Vicki loved horses, and with the open fields around her childhood home, she was able to have her own horse, whom she named Flame. Vicki rode horses with friends in the hills. She rode to Foothill Village to shop and to Indian Hills Elementary to attend school. Vicki went on to attend East High School and Brigham Young University, where she graduated with a degree in Child Development.
She loved college life, and the time living with roommates was a happy memory for her. She met and married a fellow BYU student, Nolan Dan Bishop, in the Salt Lake Temple on July 10, 1970. They lived in Hawaii for a brief time and then raised four children together in Salt Lake City. Their marriage lasted nearly 40 years. Vicki was a homemaker. She had a vivacious personality and loved her children. She enjoyed shopping and saving money.
Vicki was artistic and had a good eye for home decorating. She enjoyed the Home Shopping Network, joking, laughing, and talking with everyone she met. She had a passion for family history and visiting graveyards to find her ancestors. She donated monthly to the Smile Train, a charity she deeply believed in that helps children with cleft palates. Vicki was a committed and lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Although Vicki’s mobility was limited in the last several years, she found much happiness. Her family, caregivers and ward members have been kind and attentive. She found it deeply gratifying to spend time with her children and grandchildren and to see them genuinely enjoying each other’s company. The day spent recently visiting the family ranch at Chalk Creek was one of her happiest days on record.
Vicki is survived by her four children, David, Ann, Adam (Megan), and John (Yvonne). Grandchildren Brayden, Benji and Theo. Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Howard Haynes and Marjorie Robbins Haynes. Also survived by Vicki’s siblings, John Haynes (Christina), Jan Ingebretsen (David), and Suzi Haynes (Greg Whisenant).
A public viewing will be held on Friday, December 12, from 11:00-11:45, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 for family, friends and caregivers at the Millcreek 2nd Ward building, 4220 South Jeannine Drive in Millcreek.
To all my Haynes friends,
I am so sorry about Vicki. She really had a hard life!
Jan and I were in Jr High when she had barely gotten married. Jan, you used to tell me about her! I have those memories.
Chris, I showed her a listing once for you, I really enjoyed being with her, the oldest child of my favorite people! All the best to you and yours.
So sorry I cannot make the funeral or viewing.
I love all of you so much!
Love always,
Lis McConkie
