Virginia Lee Cullimore Evans

Virginia Lee Cullimore Evans passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 82, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born on October 3, 1943, in Kemmerer, Wyoming, to Grant James Cullimore and Louise Yose Cullimore, Virginia came into the world during World War II — a time of great sacrifice. While her father served overseas, the family was not reunited until she was three years old.

She spent her early years on her grandparents’ ranch in Wyoming, and later in Kaysville, Utah, where her father coached at Davis High School and she became a cheerleader. While attending Weber College, Virginia was a proud member of the Chatonelles and even created the drill routines for the team. It was at Weber that she met Gary H. Evans, whom she married in Ogden, Utah, in 1966. Though they later divorced, they shared a lasting legacy in their two beloved sons, Ryan and Rhett, whom Virginia raised with deep care and love.

In 1984, Virginia channeled her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit into opening The Treasure Basket, a gift shop in Ogden that became a fixture in the community for 32 years. Known for its innovative and beautiful decorations and home items, the store was truly the work of her life. Her dedication to excellence was unmatched — she wouldn’t rest until every detail was just right. Holidays, especially Christmas, were a particular passion, and The Treasure Basket shone with her festive magic. The shop also became a place where she formed many cherished friendships over the years.

Virginia’s greatest joy came from her family: her sons and their families — Ryan Evans, his former wife Jennifer Evans, and their son Parker; and Rhett and Heather Evans, and their children Samuel, Sullivan, Henry, and Theodore (Teddy) — were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Louise Cullimore, and her brother-in-law, Fredric Jones.

She is survived by her sisters Barbara Jones and Kaye Alexander (Dave), her sons Ryan and Rhett Evans (Heather), five grandsons, and her nieces and nephews.

In her final days, Virginia received loving and attentive care at Spring Gardens Senior Living in Holladay, where the staff treated her with great compassion. The family is especially grateful to Kim Gladstone and Fernanda Leal and their dedicated team of caregivers who supported Virginia with such kindness and dignity.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, located at 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84108.
