Wayne Ashton (Doc) Lloyd, age 92, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on September 3rd, 2024, in Salt Lake City.
He was born on October 4th, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Henry Harries Lloyd and Lucile Fidkin Ashton.

Wayne graduated from West High School in 1950. While at West he became quite the football player. Although small in stature he achieved All State Lineman as a guard on the offensive line. He loved the game of football and coached his three sons through many seasons of little league football.

He enjoyed playing many other sports. He developed rich friendships over the years skiing with his brothers and friends in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons and playing tennis with his brother Earl, family, and neighbors.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the British England Mission from 1951-1953. Shortly after returning he joined the Army. He trained at Camp Hale, Colorado in mountain warfare techniques including mountain climbing, alpine skiing, and cold-weather survival and was then station at Fort Carson.

He attended the University of Utah for his undergraduate studies and then attended Dental School at the University of Kansas City from 1958-1962. He practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City for 47 years.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Geniel, his parents and sisters, Joan Hofheins and Carolee Dayton. He is survived by his children, Brett (Stacey) Lloyd, Mark (Wendy) Lloyd, Spencer Lloyd, Amy Lloyd, Susan (Eugene) Ramak, 10 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Harries, Earl (Naoma), and Ben, and sister, Susan Leatham.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 9th from 6-8 pm at the East Millcreek 9th Ward on 3750 South Hillside Lane, Salt Lake City. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at the Salt Lake City Cemetery (4th Avenue & N Street) at 10:00 am. A special thanks to his wonderful neighbors, ward family, Visiting Angels, especially Stephanie, for their friendship, love, and care.

His love of life was his dear Geniel! We all knew that she was the most important person in his life. One of his deepest heartaches was their separation for the past three years. We are all so profoundly touched with the love he had for her. We know their reunion was so sweet.
Wayne will be missed by many, he made everyone around him happier. He loved his family and his Father in Heaven and Savior. He taught his family the importance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He always led by example and his actions confirmed his sincere testimony of Jesus Christ. We love you, Dad!

I was sorry to hear about your Dad's passing but I know he is so, so happy to be with Geneil again. Your parents were two of the kindest and most giving people. I loved all the opportunities I had to visit with them. Such amazing people. Sending my love and hugs to all of you.

Doc's smile and chuckle was always a staple in my life growing up. What a sweet man. I'm sorry for your loss, but what joy he is having being back with his sweet wife.

Doc, you were one of the most stabalizing, and emotionally consistent human beings that I ever met. I am so grateful to you and Geniel for what you contributed to my soul. May your next journey be as good as the last! Love Rick (and Ann!)

We will certainly miss Dr. Lloyd. He was a great dentist, but an even better friend and person. When Jordan had dental problems a couple of times on some Black Friday's Dr. Lloyd would open up his office and treat him. Dr. Mark has carried on his legacy of kindness and service. Connie remembers the home as being warm and inviting when visiting. We miss the Lloyd's and our sincere best wishes to the family at this time.

I always knew Mr.Lloyd was a relative of my neighbor Bruce Lloyd, but was never formally introduced. However many many times as I rode my bike or walked past his home he was out doing yard work. Even up until last year. He had such a gentle sweetness about him and was always kind to his daughter. Sorry for your loss.
