Obituary Photo for Cathryne Louie < >

Cathryne Louie passed away suddenly on June 20th, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the Neuro Critical Care, ICU department at Intermountain Medical Center. Your kindness and support through a difficult and painful time is much appreciated.

Cathryne was born July 9th, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The daughter of Bob and Lynn Louie. She graduated from East High School. Went to LDS Business College, majoring in Fashion Merchandising.

Cathryne worked at LDS hospital and thereafter for 29 years at Primary Children's Hospital; Radiology Department. She was a valuable staff member and was loved and respected by many.

Cathryne was funny, generous and a hard worker. She loved cooking and sharing delicious meals and appetizers for her co-workers on special occasions or just because.
If you saw Cat at work, home or running around she was wearing her comfy New Balance sneakers. The brighter, the better and she had many! They made her happy and brought smiles especially to the young patients at her work.

Cat, affectionate nickname by her friends and family, met the love of her life, Scott Wetzel. They were each uniquely different but together shared 28 amazing years together. Scott introduced Cat to camping, boating, ATVs, and a love of the outdoors.
Traveling in their RV to the desert, mountains or Wyoming is something she looked forward to. Cat, a foodie, shared her love of cooking and discovering new adventurous places to eat. Visiting with the owners or staff at their favorite hangouts is something she and Scott enjoyed very much on the weekends. She loved her little fur baby Tink immensely. The three together... forever.

Cat's love of music was always evolving. At the moment, Post Malone is who she loved to listen to after a long day.

Watching The Pioneer Woman on the Food Network and the Hallmark Channel brought her hours of joy and relaxation. She adored her pretty collection of rings and loved to
wear on every finger. She was a bright light to many. We love and will miss you, Cat. Until we
meet again...

Cathryne is preceded in death by her father Bob Louie, her mother-in-law Ruth Wetzel, her father in law Dean Wetzel.

Cathryne is survived by her husband of 28 years Scott Wetzel, her son Brennen (Monica) Louie, her mother Lynn Louie, her sister Debbie (Marcus) Kubosumi, her brother Kim (Carolyn) Louie, her brother in law Mark (Gayln) Wetzel, brother in law Paul (Shauna) Wetzel, Deanna (Keith) Rosenthal and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, numerous family and friends, all who love and will miss her
tremendously.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Cathryne's name to The Humane Society of Utah, Best Friends Animal Shelter or any animal shelter of your choice.
Thank you.

A Celebration of Life to share stories and love for Cat will be held at a later date.

Awful sorry to hear about that She will Be missed

- Drew black

Cat will be missed dearly. She was such a good friend to so many. She often selflessly shared treats, snacks, and lunches with me on my busy procedure days when I didn't have time to get anything for myself. Her unique role will be impossible to replace!

- Logan Dance, MD

A lovely person at work, I will miss her a lot especially in the mornings when she greeted me with that characteristic smile.

- Jorge Zorrilla

May the Lord comfort your family. My prayers are with you and them. Stunned when heard the news of you moving on. Very glad that I saw you and Scott before this happened. Your smile always brightened my day.
I still wish that my hair looked like yours! I will see you again.

It was with shock and sadness that we learned of Cathryne's passing. It seems very unfair that this could have happened at such a young age. Our hearts and love go out to the entire family.

Dearest Family, Friends, and all those who love her dear,
I wish that “I’m sorry” was enough. I wish I could reverse this for you and intervene. So hard, so sudden, so unfair. Cathryne, (Cat to me), is one of the most kind, sprite and friendliest souls I’ve ever met. She is so appreciated and loved. Travel safe, you beautiful spirit. Until we meet again. 💞

We are all so sorry to hear about Cat’s passing. Her and Scott’s Sunday visits were something we all looked forward to. Cat had a warm and kind personality that brightened the day. Appreciate the support and kindness over all the years. She will be missed terribly.

My sincere condolences to the family, she was a lovely person. I will cherish the memories of hanging out in the basement of the family home on 11th Avenue, listening to Alabama albums and doing home work. Heaven has another angel.
