Dave Edgar Theurer

1932 ~ 2013

Dave Edgar Theurer, a doctor, who was well-respected by his peers and loved by his patients, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 1, 2013 in Salt Lake City.

Dave was born August 23, l932 in Logan, Utah to Gretta and Lloyd Theurer. The second of four children, Dave excelled in sports, scholastic, and musical achievements.

He was married to Gayle Monson, his beloved "Tootsie", on January 13, 1951. Theirs' was a marriage of many happy and wonderful years raising their five children.

A graduate of the University of Utah School of Medicine, Class of '59, he specialized in Ob-Gyn, where he later became an awarded faculty member. He loved medicine almost as much as he loved his patients. He delivered 10,000 babies before he stopped counting.

Christmas was his favorite holiday because it was a celebration of the birth of the Savior, but it was also a great day of fun, gifts and "tomfoolery". Dad always loved an adventure in the outdoors. We spent vacations exploring southern Utah including Lake Powell in its early beginnings, many trips to Newport Beach and numerous outings in the motor homes.

After retirement, he spent much of his remaining years serving LDS missions to downtown Salt Lake City, Mongolia and Australia, with his supportive wife Gayle. He also spent years of service in the LDS Church in the missionary department.

Between missions and until his passing, he was a great fan of his grandchildren's games and performances. He was always the "young and fun" person, even in his later years.

Survived by his wife Gayle, his five children: Cary (DeAnn), Peggy, Jeff, (Carol), Chris (Stacy) and Andy (Charisse); 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and his sibling: Gary and Ana Marie. Proceeded in death by his parents and sister Diane.
