Catherine Kaye Grant

1939 ~ 2014

Catherine Kaye Grant, 74, left this world to return home to her Heavenly Father, 14 October 2014. Kaye was born 15 December 1939 in Salt Lake City to Clive Parkin and Catherine Dick Grant.

Kaye lived her life helping others; she took care of her parents and younger brother. She graduated from the University of Utah in Business Administration, later receiving her teaching certificate. Kaye retired from teaching at Academy Park Elementary.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many positions serving in the church. She loved music and played the piano and organ for the church in her younger years. Kaye taught many classes in Primary and Young Womens. Her last assignment was to call the Relief Society sisters for visiting teaching reports. She loved her ward sisters.

Kaye belonged to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers since 1970 and held many positions and kept the scrapbooks. She was Vice Captain at the time of her passing.

Kaye loved to travel, she had been to all seven continents, and had just returned from a Mediterranean cruise. She was happy to share all the items she collected from her trips with anyone who was interested. She made several scrapbooks of her travels.

Kaye is survived by her brother, Lynn (Kay); nephews Kevin (Heather), Derik (Jane), Mikal (Brittany); nieces Merredith, Stephanie (Fridrik), Jacquelyn (Dane), and KayeLynne; as well as several grand-nieces and nephews and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Raymond.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Valley View 7th Ward, 2245 East 3900 South, Salt Lake City. A visitation will be held Tuesday the 21st from 6:00-8:00 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, and one hour prior to the services at the ward. Interment will take place, following the services, in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 4th Ave. and "N" Street.
