After 85 years, our dear, sweet mother went back home. She was also a grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother. She was loved honored and respected by all who knew her. She loved unconditionally and had great affection for all she knew. She passed away, after a long struggle, peacefully and gratefully.
She was born on February 24, 1933 in Salt Lake City, to Arch and Kathryn Smith, the second of four children. Her dad worked for Kraft Foods and moved to Chico, CA, and then back to Salt Lake City where Margaret graduated from East High School. She worked for Mountain Bell for 42 years, retiring in 1994.
Margaret married Keith Bench Denison in 1954 and they had two children, Gordon and Kathryn. After Keith's passing in 1990, she met and married Austin Verl Halls in 1996, who later passed in 2006.
She loved to bowl, golf, and travel. She especially loved Hawaii. Margaret really enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Gordon (Sandy) Denison and Kathy (David) Olsen; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; Austin's children and grandchildren and sister, Janet (Grant) Noorda. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Richard Y Smith and W Michael Smith, and grandson Jeff Denison.
A viewing will be held Thursday, June 7 from 6-8PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Funeral services will be held at 7155 S. 540 E. at 11 am on Friday, June 8 with a viewing beginning at 10 am.
