Don Carl Barg

1935 ~ 2018

Don Carl Barg, 83, of Stansbury Park, Utah, passed away June 25, 2018. He was born March 8, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Carl R. Barg and Julia Nielsen Barg. He graduated from West High School in 1953 and enrolled at the University of Utah. Don interrupted his studies in 1955 to fill a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Denmark. After completing his mission, he re-enrolled at the University of Utah, graduating in 1962 with a degree in physics. While at the "U" Don met the love of his life, Lynne Hills. They were married June 10, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple.

After graduation Don started a career in the specialized field of health physics (radiation protection), where he worked for 38 years. Don and Lynne lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho; Las Vegas, Nevada; West Valley City, Utah; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and again in Idaho Falls, before retiring to Stansbury Park in 2001.

Don was active in his church all his life, with a firm testimony of the Gospel. He served in three different bishoprics, on the stake High Council, as a teacher, and as ward and stake music director in most of the wards where he lived. He was a competent amateur musician.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Lynne. He is survived by his four children, Stephen Carl (Kay); Richard Stewart (Karen); Kirsten Lynne; and Lisa Karen Trick; and by five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 30, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Hill Ward, 417 Benson Road, Stansbury Park, Utah, where friends and family may visit from 9:30-10:45 a.m., under the direction of Larkin Mortuary. Burial will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
