Gary Larsen Allred, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend passed away in Provo, Utah on June 22, 2017 due to complications of a widow maker heart attack.
Gary had a love for life and it showed in everything he did. He filled his home with love, laughter, and a welcoming spirit. His easy going personality and child-like ability to be goofy made everyone laugh. He loved everyone and was loved by all. He had a positive outlook on life even in difficult times. As an experienced, hardworking elevator technician, he knew that life had its ups and downs but eventually it always come to the right floor and leveled out.
Gary was passionate about all things "techie." He loved electronics including cameras, video equipment, stereos and TVs, etc. He admired the speed and sleekness of cars, especially Mustangs, and was elated when he bought his dream car; a 2008 Mustang GT California Special convertible. He was a huge movie buff and could quote movie lines like none other. He enjoyed going to premier nights, drive-ins, and having home movie nights with his family. He considered any excuse to have popcorn, Bottle Caps, beef jerky, Slurpees, or a Diet Dr. Pepper a good one. He also maintained many fish aquariums and an assortment of birds throughout his life.
Gary's thirst for knowledge made him an avid lifelong learner and he often surprised folks with how much he knew about any topic. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a deep spiritual thinker, and had a command of many gospel doctrines. He served a mission in South Carolina and magnified all of his church callings. He related especially well to teens and toddlers, allowing his true inner age to show through.
Gary married Michelle Renee Carson on March 17, 1995 and they raised three children ‚ Alexandria Marie Andrus Sheehan, Zachary Carson Allred, and Ariel Rose Allred. Michelle preceded him in death in April 2012. Wanting to share his love for life, he married Michele Barker on May 1, 2014. They shared many life experiences during their marriage and looked forward to many more adventures together in the future. They were planning a SCUBA diving trip when he passed away.
Gary is survived by his children; wife Michele; parents Edward Parry Allred and Arlene Allred; siblings Russell (Karla) Allred, Jeff Allred, Mike (Marla) Allred, Deanna (Robert) McAllister, Paul (Debbie) Allred, Connie Robb, Amy Allred; son-in-law Chris Sheehan; in-laws Gary Barker, Pamela Barker, Brian (Audrie) Barker, Vic and Reta Carson, Todd (Melanie) Kodele, Shawn Church, Matt (Mandy) Carson, Laurie Spiker; and countless nieces and nephews.
Gary\s viewing will be held Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Mortuary in Riverton. Another viewing will be held at the same location on Friday, June 30, 2017 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. A celebration of his life (funeral) will follow at 2:00 p.m. The Riverton Larkin Mortuary is located at 3688 W 12600 S Riverton, UT 84065. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road (10600 S) Sandy, UT 84092.
