Maxine Ashley Higbee passed away on August 21, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born September 2, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to L. Frank Ashley and I. Marie Fowkes Ashley. Maxine graduated from Granite High School in May of 1942. She worked at Remington Arms Company making machine gun belts until the war ended, and then at Heusser Instrument for 13 years until she retired. Maxine began working at St. Marks Hospital in 1989, and worked there for seven years.
She married Edwin E. Higbee in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 12, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple.
Maxine is survived by her son Edwin (Rita), granddaughters Tiffani (Bret) Jackman, Joei Ellison, seven great grandchildren Randi (Emmanuel) Godoy, Chris (Ciarra), Nick and Noah Perea, Ben and Samantha Gallegos, and Rylie Jo Coleman, three great-great grandchildren Emmanuel and Ryah Godoy, and Rayana Perea, son-in-law Gary Ellison, and sister-in-law Elma Ashley.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother L. Frank Ashley Jr., and daughter Tina Marie Ellison.
Services will be held Saturday, August 26 at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A public viewing will be held from 9:00am-9:45am. A private graveside for family only will follow.
