Naomi Pujol Martinsen

1973 ~ 2018

Our sweet wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Naomi Pujol Martinsen (45) passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, after a nearly year-long battle with cancer.

Naomi was born on February 9, 1973 in Melbourne, Australia. She was the oldest child and only daughter of Cathy and Francois Pujol and was followed in birth by three brothers. When Naomi was 14, she moved to America where she graduated from Alta High School.

The stars aligned and Naomi's life was forever changed when she met her soulmate Dan. Naomi and Dan became inseparable and were married on June 16, 1995 in Sandy, Utah. They were not married for long before Naomi and Dan started to save the world, one child at a time. In addition to several dozens of foster children, they have nine children of their own.

Naomi loved all children. Naomi enjoyed a life of what seemed like never-ending energy. Naomi, Dan and the kids regularly-attended live music events. When Naomi was not focusing on children, she loved to travel with Dan and explore the cuisine of the world. Naomi did not focus on facials, manicures and pedicures, but instead spent her time focusing on making a difference in the lives of countless children. Naomi was Foster Mother of the Year multiple times. She understood the primary goal of reunifying kids with their parents by not just helping the kids, but helping the parents as well.

Naomi was the creator of the Charleston, a 1920's-themed cafe in Draper. The Charleston was her latest business endeavor, though she always had something in the works. Naomi was a tireless entrepreneur. She was a progressive, strong, Renaissance woman, who cared about everyone—always.

She is survived by her husband, C. Daniel Martinsen, children Shnaida, Miyah, Evens, Ethan, Luc, Olivia, Kali, Kapri, and Mila; her parents Francois and Cathy Pujol; brothers Nathan Pujol (Wife Emily - Sons Liam and Alexander) and Joshua Pujol (Wife Jemma). She is preceded in death by her brother, Paul Pujol.
